Biden: Israeli leaders should find consensus, not rush "divisive" judicial overhaul
Times Of Israel ^ | 7/24/2023 | Jacob Magid, TOI Staff

Amid talk of possible compromise, US president says 'it doesn't make sense for Israeli leaders 'to rush this,' given range of threats and challenges country faces

US President Joe Biden said Sunday that Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his hardline coalition should not rush their 'divisive' bid to overhaul Israel's judiciary, given the numerous threats and challenges Israel faces, and should instead work to build broad consensus for legal reform.

"From the perspective of Israel's friends in the United States, it looks like the current judicial reform is becoming more divisive, not less," Biden said in a statement to the Axios news site...

With sleepy Joe its do as I say not as I do.

Joe is a super partisan guy and and we wouldn’t
have this big a deficit if we were selling oil
instead of the world buying oil from Russia.

The same very bad spoilers who are ruining the U.S. are working overtime to try to ruin Israel, preventing her from allowing judicial balance benefitting all the people. Bully Joe is an avaricious, lecherous leach, who is well onto senility. A blathering mannikin in a tailored suit. It’s obvious Joe’s not the one calling any of the political shots.

If you haven’t been following the Israel disaster of the governments battle. Just know that Biden backs the judiciary. Nuff said.

Israel buys mucho U.S. military hardware with the money we give them.

And American welfare recipients buy mucho U.S. retail merchandise with the money we give them.

So welfare, foreign or domestic, is a good thing?

How about we let American taxpayers keep their money and decide for themselves how to spend it?

The vast majority of countries that receive foreign aid from the U.S. don't do squat for our benefit. Israel, on the other hand ...

It's not either/or. We can refuse aid all foreign nations. America First.

AND they buy arms from us, allowing our companies to make money.

So "our" arms manufacturers make money like Big Pharma -- through the U.S. government funneling money from taxpayers to "our" companies. And that's a good thing?

But even that's incorrect. Actually, every foreign country that receives U.S. military aid has to spend it all on U.S. companies -- with the sole exception of Israel.

Israel's lobby is so powerful, it got an exemption so they could spend some U.S. foreign aid money on building up their own arms manufacturers.

There is “consensus”.

Israeli voters want some control over an out of touch, unelected, elite, Deep State, horridly leftist, judiciary with no checks and balances to its power.

Biden is using USA taxpayer money to fund riots from the same groups of idiots who protest in the USA to oppose checks and balances and Democratic control.

It’s only “controversial” because the Deep State sticks together.

“ ell, Israel can just pay Joe 5 million for his support.”

Sadly, that’s exactly what should have been done.

Far cheaper for both the USA (which has spent millions supporting rioters) and for Israel (who suffers from the attacks).

Yeah, do it they way Joe handles Supreme Court rulings he doesn't like. Consensus is definitely the Biden way. < /sarcasm>

The USA gets multiple things for the military aid it gives Israel:

1. A massive beachhead, forward supply base, and (effectively) unsinkable aircraft carrier in a critical area.

2. The arguably fourth most powerful world military that does its dirty work.

3. Testing and evaluation of equipment in the real world.

4. A human spy network in the Middle East, Eastern Europe, and former Soviet Union, which the USA completely lacks due to sheer incompetence of your spy agencies in the human intelligence world.

5. And most importantly to your military industrial complex, the military aid comes with the string that Israel not develop certain weapon systems. The main proponents of aid are industries and Congressmen who are worried Israel would make something that makes the F35 or 22 look obsolete for a fraction of the cost. Raytheon did its absolute best to crush Iron Dome. We entered the drone space instead of manned aircraft simply because your M/I Complex didn’t think it was important at the time.

6. It’s far less than expended on Japanese and Korean security by the USA, all without putting your young men’s lives in danger (unlike there).

It’s also the exact same amount of money as given to Arab nations.

And now less than your taxpayers have burned up in Ukraine, in just a couple of years.

I get the concern with wasting taxpayer money, especially with a massive invasion occurring on your southern border. I could see stopping it all. But select outrage as to Israel is nonsense.

Preview of what Trump will have to deal with per judicial reform, which is long overdue as part of a package to atomize the deep state.

Don't make me laugh. How much of your tax money do you get to personally designate as to its use? "Oh, I don't want my tax money to pay for building housing for illegals", "I don't want my tax money to pay for Ukraine's entire government expenses", "I don't want my money to pay for welfare for able bodied ghetto dwellers", etc. When and how do American taxpayers keep their money and decide for themselves how to spend it? Only apparently when it comes to Israel, in your case.

Like Brandon got consensus for all the divisive EOs, spending bills and legislation that he bulldozed through.

Who said "only" in the case of Israel?

Please don't put words in my mouth. This thread is about Israel. It if were about Covid relief, student loans, or whatever other kind of spending, the same would apply.

Opposition to welfare has long been a conservative principle.

Rush Limbaugh often said, "Democrats want to spend your money. Republicans want YOU to decide how YOU spend YOUR own money."

Of course, when you're talking about welfare for Israel then, apparently, conservative principles no longer apply.

The Left often says, "Let's print and spend more money, because the money will be spent in the U.S. which will boost the economy.

Conservatives never accept that argument. Yet it's the same argument you make for aid to Israel. "Oh, the money will be spent in the U.S.! Great for our economy!"

You're the one making the exceptions to conservative principles, not me.

A massive beachhead, forward supply base, and (effectively) unsinkable aircraft carrier in a critical area.

It's not our aircraft carrier. Israel puts Israel First.

The arguably fourth most powerful world military that does its dirty work.

What Israel does against the Arabs, it does for itself.

If we were neutral, the Arabs wouldn't be our enemies. We wouldn't "need" Israel to do any "dirty work" for us.

A human spy network in the Middle East, Eastern Europe, and former Soviet Union,...

I don't trust the U.S. Deep State -- why should I trust Israel's Deep State?

Israel's intel might be good, but it's biased. Israel assured us Saddam was close to creating a nuclear bomb, thus enticing us into war with Iraq. Israel was either wrong, or they lied.

Israeli intel has been saying that Iran is "six months away from creating a nuclear bomb" for nearly 20 years now. Thank God we're ignoring Israel on that.

And most importantly to your military industrial complex, the military aid comes with the string that Israel not develop certain weapon systems...

Israel ignores "strings" whenever it's not in their interest. I recall a news story long ago about how Israel was re-selling U.S. tech to Red China, despite "strings" that they couldn't do it.

It’s far less than expended on Japanese and Korean security...

It's not either/or. We should end all foreign aid, no exceptions.

It’s also the exact same amount of money as given to Arab nations.

I doubt that. If Israel's enemies benefit as much from our aid as does Israel, then Israel would have no objection if we ended aid to all countries. But it would object, because Israel knows it benefits far more.

But it's not either/or. We should end all foreign aid, no exceptions.

And now less than your taxpayers have burned up in Ukraine...

It's not either/or. We should end all foreign aid, no exceptions.

And you are wrong. Dollar for dollar the same.

And you are wrong. Dollar for dollar the same.

1. The Camp David Accords said we'd give "dollar for dollar" economic aid to Egypt and Israel (despite Egypt's population being about ten times larger). But not "dollar for dollar" military aid.

2. The U.S. has often guaranteed Israel's "qualitative military advantage" over its neighbors. This means we sell the latest high-tech planes and weaponry to Israel. But merely guns and low tech stuff to the Arabs.

3. Even that is largely for Israel's benefit. The Arab kings and dictators use those weapons to prevent coups by Islamist extremists.

We shouldn't be funding the Arabs or Israelis. But don't tell me the funding is equivalent. If it were, Israel would have no objection to our ceasing all aid to both sides.
