OHIO - Special Election vote Aug 8. Vote yes on issue 1. IMPORTANT

Please vote YES on issue 1.

This is so important that dems are running ads to get their people to vote no. Tell your neighbors, friends and social media about this special election. Thank you.

Voting begins today on a proposed amendment that could make it more difficult for citizens to change Ohio’s constitution.

Early voting continues through Aug. 6 for the Aug. 8 special election the legislature set after the Republican-led effort passed a 60-vote threshold by only two votes in the House. Gov. Mike DeWine recently signed included $15 million to cover the cost of the single-issue election.

That comes less than a year after lawmakers passed and DeWine signed into law a bill that banned special elections in the state.

The proposed constitutional amendment would require a 60% vote of the people to pass any citizen-led constitutional amendment. Voters would need only meet a 50%-plus-one threshold to approve the change to 60%.

Republicans are not doing a very good job getting this info out. However, I’ve seen several commercials on streaming services from democrats on this issue.

Yard signs proliferating in my rural neck of the woods. about 3:1 YES vs. NO.

Got a mailer from my state assemblyman Ron Ferguson on Friday. Not overtly directing a YES vote on Issue 1, but touting his previous vote on SJR 2, which enabled us to have this special election in the first place. (Can you believe that a penny postcard is now fifty-one cents?) He details the three biggest reasons for us to vote YES in clear unequivocal English. I want to assume that other Republican assemblymen have sent the same mailer.

Buckeye Firearms Association is pinging my email every few days. This is a crucial issue for protection of our Constitutional Carry law.

Personally I will vote YES early, since with my handicaps I cannot stand in line on election day.

Southern Ohio, no signs here but my tuned-in friends are posting about it on fb. Received mail-in ballot applications for me and my husband last Friday. They should have mailed them 3 weeks ago.

The most disturbing part was seeing an ad on RAV during the warroom from dems. Granted, no one in that audience would vote no. I’ve seen some dem friend of a friend posting on fb to vote no.

Glad to hear there are signs in your neighborhood though.

I follow center square (Ohio) to keep up to date on ohio stuff. We both know media ignores this stuff unless it benefits dems. Center square isn’t conservative but it does cover issues without the slant.

Not a lot of signs between CLE/AKR, but I’d give “NO” a tiny edge from what I’ve seen. They’re framing it as “one person one vote”.

How many legislative votes are needed to send a constitutional change to the ballot?

If 2/3rds like most states, what are they worried about. You have even worse problems if the dems get 2/3rds majority in Ohio.

The constitutional process has been the same for over 100 years. Why should we change it now?

All the online papers talk about it everyday. All no no no.
Tons of no signs. Tons of no ads on streaming, pluto, Roku and Amazon.

Republicans making very little effort.
