Huge explosions rocked Russian-occupied Crimea after suspected Ukrainian drones targeted an ammunition depot.
It is the third daring attack believed to have been masterminded by Ukraine on the annexed region this week in a humiliating blow to Vladimir Putin.
Sergei Aksyonov, the Moscow-installed leader of the region, reported the drone attack had succeeded in hitting an ammunition depot and there were no known casualties.
On telegram, he wrote: "As a result of an enemy drone on the Krasnogvardeisky district, there was a detonation at an ammunition depot.
"A decision was taken to evacuate people [living] within five kilometres" of the zone," he said, adding that: "To minimise risks, it was also decided to halt rail traffic on Crimean railways."
Footage shows multiple explosions near the city of Simferopol followed by a giant swarm of black smoke.
Local sources on social media suggested that drones struck an oil depot and airfield in the region, as well as the ammunition dump.
Kyiv has not yet commented on the strike.

There are no good guys in war. There are only instigators, and the USA’s” Intelligence Community” are always the instigators.
This time they bit off way more than they can chew and unintentionally turned control of the world over to the CCP.
Most wars have good guys and bad guys. Or bad and worse. There are cases where its arguable. In Ukraine its as clear as its ever been in any war.

The argument about “instigators” is poor. This is a regular rhetorical trope of aggressors. “Its your fault, we had to do it!” goes back to, at least, Xerxes. After all, the free Greeks were “instigating” the conquered Greeks of Asia Minor to revolt, because the free ones still existed.

Cluster bombs aren’t illegal and their use is not a war crime.
