The former Marines I know wouldn’t go in today. They loved the Marines. Both wanted a career. But, not under the present politically correct Marines. Nor would they advise anyone to go into the military.

The laziness and obesity of the zoomers may very well be the thing that saves them and the rest of us from the government sending them to Ukraine and starting WW3

This might have something to do with it.

I joined...reluctantly...in ‘69. Had it not been for the draft it’s *highly* unlikely I would have served at all. I would never serve under the likes of Osama Obama or The Big Guy.If there was a draft I’d go to Canada.

I served, but wouldn’t join today.
Time for other than white men to die.
Good luck.

I am impressed with this young man.
He’s truly observed and analyzed what’s going on with the dysfunctional military of today.
To: bitt
It's not eroded patriotism that would steer one away from joining the military. It's increased patriotism and knowing you can't serve those who are intent on destroying their fellow citizens.
This young man needs to join the nearest militia.

I hope this kid’s attitude is infectious, and spreads far and wide.
My favorite early American heroes were the Green Mountain Boys of Vermont. They defeated the British and captured Fort Ticonderoga in 1775. Within 18 months, they had become so incorrigible that Gen. George Washington was resisting calls from the Continental Congress to dispatch an armed force northward to subdue them.
They were America’s first “Deplorables.”
MAGA.

The current narrative is that recruiting is down for two reasons: people dont want to "put their lives on hold" and women/minorities fear being discriminated against in the military.
More lies.

Most of the guys I served with in the 70’s were from the midwest or south.

To answer his last question, it's the idea of service @$$hole. I have no patience with people like this.
