DeSantis’ latest policy plan, this time on the military, again focuses on ‘woke’ Read more at: https://www.miamiherald.com/news/politics-government/article277428813.html#storylink=cpy

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis unveiled a sweeping plan on Tuesday to “rip the woke out of the military” and restore a “mission first” vision for American servicemembers, claiming that liberal political and social agendas had weakened the country’s ability to defend itself.

Speaking in Columbia, S.C., DeSantis vowed to reinstate U.S. service members who refused to comply with a coronavirus vaccine mandate, saying that the military erred in requiring its members to receive the vaccine. He also promised to rid the military of a long list of policies and priorities, including diversity and inclusion efforts and climate and environmental considerations.

The goal, DeSantis said, is to return the military to its “core mission.”

“We’re now in a situation where we find ourselves seeing the military go down a very different path,” he said. “It’s a military that has been ordered by civilian officials to pursue political ideology, to pursue social experimentation, to be yet another institution in American life that gets infected with the woke mind virus.”

...

He vowed to ban drag shows on military bases, prohibit transgender people from serving in the military under their preferred gender and require military members to meet gender-neutral physical qualifications.

DeSantis also took aim at the curriculum of U.S. service academies, saying he would defund and ban any courses associated with so-called “Critical Race Theory” and ensure that the academies are focused on what he described as “appropriate fields of study.”

...

In outlining his plan, DeSantis pitched his vision for the military as a matter of national security. He blamed what he described as the “politicization” of the military for its recruitment struggles and claimed that America’s adversaries, like China, “are laughing in our face.”

That’s all fine - more or less back to 2020.

More significant to me was this - revealed after the 2020 election.

Both Trump and DeSantis need to come up with a plausible set of reforms that can get these guys under control.

Once the Deep State starts doing this stuff, it quickly gets to be a habit.

DeSantis has run a worse campaign than Jeb Bush. He's simply a lousy campaigner with charisma of potted planted. Plus, grassroots know he's sold his soul to the GOP establishment and its donors.

He's candidacy is DOA.

True statement.

My prediction is, DeSantis will be a slow learner with a bull head & a ton of cash.

I think you are over the top saying he is " lousy campaigner with charisma of potted planted". First, have you seen him in person? Have you seen several recordings, such as the interview with Jake Tapper on CNN? If not, try it. He's quite energetic, competent, and successful. He's more consistently conservative than Trump, GOPe, or RINO. Why don't you be fair abou this as it is fine to support Trump, DeSantis, or others, but we should be honest and not demean them. Who knows who will be the nominee after the caucuses and primaries are over.

Now, candidacies that are DOA? I'd say Pence, Hutchison, Ramiswamy, Christie, Scott, and Haley.

As much as DeSantis is correct on this issue, it is not a campaign issue. Open borders, fentanyl, crime, rule of law, economy, Soros & Co., are issues destroying America.

I said back in October 24 that a Trump DeSantis 2024 ticket would have been a winning administration with DeSantis as Trump’s apprentice preparing DeSantis for 2028.

It is always odd on FR to see people suggesting a Trump and DeSantis ticket because it is not constitutionally viable.

To start, eject every O-7 and above who was put in place by Obama and Biden.

"Who knows who will be the nominee after the caucuses and primaries are over."

I would also add "trials" to the list. Trump might not be a candidate when they are finished with him. I thought he didn't look well on Hannity last night. I believe all these investigations and phony indictments are beginning to take their toll.

The president and vice-president may be from the same state but they lose their electoral votes for that state. Here is one quick link I found that discusses this, not completely clear but from this one you can do a search for more discussion: https://www.palmbeachpost.com/story/opinion/columns/2021/01/03/civics-project-no-prohibition-against-president-vp-candidates-same-state/4089264001/

Trump could move back to New York or take up residence anywhere else outside of Florida. My wife and I have lived in California, Pennsylvania, North Carolina, New York, New Jersey, and Colorado.
