‘It’s Going to Rip Us Apart’: Georgia County Plans Reparations Study, Can’t Fund Basic Infrastructure

Fulton County, Georgia, is the latest to move forward with a $210,000 taxpayer-funded study to evaluate if reparations for residents who are descendants of slaves are practical.

The Fulton County Board of Commissioners voted four to two in favor of the measure to fund the study led by the Atlanta University Center and county leadership, Fox 5 Atlanta reported.

Commissioner Khadijah Abdur-Rahman, who voted in favor of the measure, said this study will bring on five researchers who will explore if reparations are warranted.

“The study specifically excludes initiatives after 1980 because that data would reveal that the taxpayers of Fulton County have invested billions of dollars in supporting its most marginalized populations,” Thorne told Fox News. “With that view in mind, many would question the need to provide handouts to people who have never been enslaved, paid for by people who never enslaved anyone.”

Now Fulton County, Georgia is signing up for the reparations bandwagon. Crime is out of control and their prosecutor is hell-bent on making herself into a celebrity by being the one to take down President Trump.

The WSJ today has a front-page article today just full of praise for the prosecutor, Fani Willis, and her efforts to take out the former President.

I’d do the job for $12 as I already know the answer.

We now have muslims deciding that Americans should pay “reparations”? America is in a heap of trouble.

I’m sure if it ever made its way to the SC..that it would be illegal to use public monies in such a fashion..

But as for the local lower courts...that money will facilitate a lot of “favorable rulings” ...as intended.

This is just part of the fad that pushes local governments to get their share of the national debt before it all collapses.

I think the south already paid the price for slavery more than anybody. It goes to show it will never be enough. It’s just communists looting the treasury and they should be hanged by the nuts.

People learning that they can vote for themselves a share of the public treasury is a step in the decline of every democracy. Remains to be seen if the genius the founders put into our constitutional republic can fend off this attack.

Are they gonna research who are the descendants of free blacks who owned slaves????

The fact that blacks in the US also owned slaves has been totally ignored.

The woke crowd, i. e., the great reset, is desperate to find the quickest and most destructive means to destroy our economy and standard of living. Half of them know it and the other half are brain dead.

Reparations? For the ancestors of the 300,000 union soldiers who died freeing slaves?

--- "...a $210,000 taxpayer-funded study to evaluate...."

Forget the reparations BS, per se. In the quote above is the ENTIRE game of the corrupt in government. Taxpayer funding of studies, and taxpayer funding of studies and taxpayer funding of studies. Who chooses those who do the studies? The politicians.

As Eisenhower observed, "...we must also be alert to the equal and opposite danger that public policy could itself become the captive of a scientific-technological elite."

Taxpayer funding of reparations? Climate change? Environmental reports? Clinical studies and sociological studies and....

"Taxpayer funded" for studies is taxpayers "fleeced" again and again -- for studies.... For modeling.... For evaluations and expert consensus.

I hope they take into account that nobody living today owned slaves, don't owe them anything. My ancestors also never owned slaves.

This is a good reason to leave the Nation.

“ This idiocy is flat out going to destroy this country.”

This country has already been destroyed. There is NO WAY to stuff the genie back into the bottle, the ideal USA, if there ever was one, if gone and gone for good.

Same thing happened in California - the idiot governor rounded up a ‘task force’ that spent two years, millions of wasted dollars and finally came to the conclusion that each black is owed $1.2 million.

“Teachers in Oakland recently went on strike to demand that the school district provide reparations to black students in the district.”

Newsom quickly backtracked:

“California Gov. Gavin Newsom (D) backed away Tuesday from the idea of paying reparations to descendants of slaves, after a state panel he signed into law calculated the state was liable for hundreds of billions of dollars.”

And is now flopping the other way again:

“Newsom’s chief communication advisor, Anthony York said that Newsom is not backing away from cash payments, but wants to wait for the report in its entirety to arrive on his desk before he makes any decision.”

I’m guessing that report will be put on the bottom of the stack and never reviewed. Hope this destroys his political career, but I doubt it.

He can deal with the ensuing riots when the reparations never come.
