The US believes that Russia's current air defence and air force capabilities create "not ideal conditions" for supplying Ukraine with US-made F-16 fighter jets at this time.

Details: The representative of the US Department of Defence has noted that the conditions under which combat operations take place change over time, "but the conditions right now for the employment of the F-16s are probably not ideal".
Quote: "I mean, the Russians still possess some air defense capability. They have air capability. And the number of F-16s that would be provided may not be perfect for what's going on right now."
Details: At the same time, Sims added that since the future will change, "that certainly will dictate how that is employed".

Maybe there are still a few patriots in the Pentagon who know the F-16’s will be destroyed or end up in the Russians hands.
If history teaches us anything, the same politicians who support Ukraine will eventually turn their backs on them.
Its why they haven’t sent Abrams tanks either, although promised - they are extremely complex to maintain and operate, and are not “stand-alone” weapons
also, Washington DC doesn’t want videos of destroyed Abrams and F-16s appearing on social media from day one of their use.
Reportedly, Zelensky’s been told they have until November to make significant gains. Moving towards Crimea is suicide, so they’ll probably try the east or the very west point to attack at.
Also, it seems the grain deal will not be renewed, so you’ll see skirmishes in the Black Sea again.

If he has any sense at all he will be defecting to Russia any day now. He is watching the menu very closely. Probably unless he runs away under cover of darkness, Zelensky will be the star of a state funeral in the next couple of months. Greed is a powerful motivator though so he might be tempted to wait too long thinking his lottery ticket will pay off.

I do agree with the General that sending F-16s to Ukraine would be a very expensive, fatal ( to pilots and to the reputation of the F-16 fighter) ) escalation of a predictably fruitless effort to bolster Ukraine’s ground force insufficiency with yet another wunderwaffen.
Not to mention Russian statements that they will consider these aircraft as a nuclear delivery threat.

Hate to be the lead F-16 on their 1st FAFO mission.
Because presumably Uke pilots must be trained to fly them, and to transition seasoned fighter pilots from the MiG29. Going 4th gen in a short window of time is not realistic.
Plus there could be private concerns that our best and newest ( which we are marketing to other countries) could perform……not as well as advertised in this environment when Russians hold back nothing.

Don’t forget that the Operatives were prohibited from taking part in social media by the Courts (well, for 10 days), so that may be part of why there are less Ukrainian Cheerleaders active. But they’ll be back, thanks to the IDIOTS in the 5th Circuit.
