Ron DeSantis zings Trump for skipping events: ‘Nobody is entitled’ to GOP nod

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis has taken aim squarely at Donald Trump, with the former president set to miss a major forum in Iowa Friday and dangling the prospect of playing hooky from next month’s first debate. “Nobody is entitled to this nomination,” DeSantis told conservative Boston radio host Howie Carr Wednesday. “You have got to earn the nomination and doing things like the Family Leader event in Iowa, doing things like these debates, they’re important parts of the process.” Trump has been noncommittal about attending the first Republican showdown, hosted by Fox News and slated for Aug. 23 in Milwaukee. Earlier this week, organizers of a key Des Moines cattle call — the Family Leadership Summit — revealed that the former president won’t attend that event.

What is that supposed to mean? Trump won the real vote TWICE.

Anyone denying voter fraud in 2020 and the Republican establishment complicity in it is the enemy.

DeSantis is one the worst candidates in modern American history and would be an equal disaster in the general election.

"The best thing about McCain is his son-in-law Ben Domenich."

He can't be that bright though, marrying the daughter.

He does deserve criticism for firing Fkynn and Bannon.

Fine, but, that should not detract from Trump's record of achievements.

And DeSantis has declined the invitation to speak at Turning Point this weekend ... because he might get booed. (And they call Trump thin-skinned.)

“It would be a grave mistake for Trump to skip the debates.”

IIRC, in 2016 he skipped some large event — possibly a debate. At the exact same time he held his own rally in another venue - like a boss. Sure took the wind out of the sails of the other guys.

We need a win. Not somebody who won but saw another guy take the oath. What does that get us? Bragging rights? You can have them. I’d rather our guy take the oath.

trump is the leader of the conservative movement.
desantis is on his way out.
and if trump is NOT the candidate for the pubbies, maga will leave.

this is the battle that must be won... get rid of the mamby pamby gope and anyone but trump people out of the process... let them start their own party “the central socialist party.”

and watch it die on the vine.
get rid of the limpwristed graham mccain liberals... they should not be allowed in the presence of the maga conservatives.

if trump skips the debates, it would be grave... for the wannabe gope trump hating posers.

it is likely we need to prioritize cleaning out the gope, instead of keeping a “big tent” intact, pro ukraine, pro homo, go along to get along, “centrists”.

desantis will NOT close the gap.

It would be a grave mistake for Trump to skip the debates. I hope he does, for it would help Desantis close the gap.

DeSantis has a better chance in the General Election, even though the Democrats will cheat.

I don’t. I don’t watch any of that crap anyway. Stopped watching Fox News in 2008, and don’t watch any news programming on any platform ever...not even Trump’s rallies or interviews. I already know that I’m voting for Trump for a third time, if the Good Lord lets me live to Election Day 2024. No internet or TV appearance of him or anyone else is going to change my mind.

**************

Trump doesn’t need these Republican Dwarf Debates, He’s already been President and isn’t an unknown.

He should let these nobody candidates, who don’t have a clue what it takes to be President, have their “own playtime” & miniscule ratings.

Trump has a big lead and should stick with campaigning, rallies, and interviews.

Most important thing: 2024 is not an election.

It 's about returning the rightfully elected leader to his place, and restoring the country, (Trump is the only one who can do this), after the coup of 2020.

Also Trump has a proven track record, that speaks for itself. Debate is not necessary.

The only thing we know about Desantis is that he is backed by RINO's and deep St. which also speaks for itself.

I agree. DeSantis and the rest of the candidates will attack Trump whether he's there or not. My question is, when will they begin attacking each other? They're going to have to do that at some point. They can't just attack Trump, since they're running against each other too.

Trump needs to become a uniter, not a divider.

Only 50 percent of the party is voting for him at this point. DOA unless he changes his tune....

He SHOULD sit down with Tucker at some point.

He will.

Plus, he already has sat down with Carlson multiple times during the Trump Era.
Trump knows Tucker has a following and he won’t neglect his fans.

Many of them are Trump supporters.
