US Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen has called on China to work with Washington to fight the "existential threat" of climate change.
Speaking on Saturday, she said the two countries - the largest greenhouse gas emitters - had a joint responsibility to lead the way on climate action.
She called on China to support the US-led Green Climate Fund.
Ms Yellen is on a four-day trip to Beijing in an attempt to boost relations between the two countries.
Chinese Vice Premier He Lifeng, who was among those to meet with Ms Yellen, said he regretted "unexpected incidents", such as the row over a spy balloon, had hurt ties with the United States.
There's been no formal co-operation between China and the US on climate change since the administration of former President Donald Trump.
And China briefly suspended climate talks entirely with the US last year after senior Democrat Nancy Pelosi visited Taiwan, which is self-ruled but Beijing sees as a breakaway province it will eventually unite with.

Yallen is there on one desperate mission. It won’t happen immediately, but the day will come when China demands all settlements from us to be in the new gold backed BRICS money, not our increasingly inflated dollar.

This is, in my mind, quite significant.

Biden is worried about a part of one small country in Europe.
China is however about, it seems possible, to threaten America.
Joe Biden is a puppet. Even when he was younger and lucid, he would have done this because it would have gotten him elected.
But it makes you wonder whether others in Biden Administration including Janet Yellen are true believers in the Climate Change Cult.

China is probably supporting a lot of the climate-cretin propaganda in the West. It benefits China.

In all our stores are sold products by the dozens made in China. WE have made them rich.

None of these leftist believe in “climate change”. They play along because it increases their power.
Look at Germany, they closed their 3 remaining nuclear plants, at the behest of the Green Party, while expanding coal plants and actually expropriating an entire village to create a new coal mine.
All with the support of the Greens.
The don’t believe in CO2. They don’t even worry about air pollution.
It is all fake and a power grab.

I am sure that the well known far-Eastern trait of being overtly polite to guests is the only reason that the Chinese stayed awake during the hobbit’s presentation. It is a certainty that the chinks don’t give a flying fook about climate change.
