THE HAGUE, July 8 (Reuters) - Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte is due to meet King Willem-Alexander on Saturday, to discuss a caretaker administration the day after his centre-right government collapsed following a row on migration policies.
The resignation of the coalition government means parliament will most likely be dissolved and the Dutch will go to the polls in a general election, expected to be held in November.
Rutte, 56, in power since 2010, is already the Netherlands' longest serving prime minister. He told a press conference late on Friday that he'd like to run for a fifth term but would consult with his party before making a final decision.
"If you were to ask me to decide now, the answer is obviously 'yes'," he told journalists, but added "it's also up to the party".
The crisis in Dutch politics came after Rutte's conservative VVD party pushed to limit the flow of asylum seekers to the Netherlands.
Tensions came to a head this week, when Rutte demanded support for a proposal to limit the arrival of children of war refugees who are already in the Netherlands and to make families wait at least two years before they can be reunited.

Another example for us to watch and pay attention to as a learning lesson with our own 'open border.' And if you say it cannot happen here?

Look him up, he is one of the puppet masters pulling the strings and writing the books.
I’m a little confused, as I read that this WEF enforcer, Rutte, was wanting stricter immigration, and his counterparts were against that. I hope I got that wrong.
I just hope that with the ousting of Rutte, the farmers will stand a fighting chance to keep their properties and the whole Agenda 2030 will be history.
Am I not saying Obama is following all of that? That he was advertising where he was going?
Just remember - the “conservative” government of Rutte is pushing out the Dutch farmers just like the “conservative” government of the UK is allowing banks to deny services to Nigel Farage. They are on the same page as the Red Dems here.
So foreigners invade the Netherlands and its government collapses.
And Hitler is soooo jealous right now - he could have had his “wandering room” for his people without firing a shot.
A “government collapsing” in a parliamentary system is not the same thing as a change in regime.
It means,in this case, that part of a coalition sensed blood in the water that they opted for new elections at this time rather than wait for the future because they judged that elecions at this time would either improve their position relative to where there position is or (less likely) would improve their position relative to where they are likely to end up if elections are delayed to maximum time.
If they wait the full time, maybe the farmers (the BBB) would have ended up with an absolute majority . . . by holding elections now there may be hope of a smaller coalition including the BBB but not some of the present coalition that would act on immigration (with Rutte being part of this coalition), or some sort of coalition that is larger in terms of parties that will keep the BBB in minority.
My guess is that Rutte intends to effectively surrender to the farmers in exchange for at least remaining in the governing coalition, and possibly as Prime Minister. If so he deserves a statue between George Wallace and Machiavelli.
Down in Birmingham we love the governor. We all did what we had to do. Watergate does not bother me. Does your conscience bother you? Tell the truth.
“centre-right government?”
After they dismembered their farming capabilities en masse?
Really, Reuters?
I realize this, but what is confusing to me is that the other parties do NOT want these restrictions on immigration. This is stunning, in light of what’s going on in France. The only optimistic view I can see is that Rutte is out, and maybe it’s an opportunity for the pro-farmer, anti WEF side to take some power. Maybe I’m reading it wrong....I don’t know a lot about it other than watching those poor, brave farmers.
It looks like the Rutte government collapsed because of a mixture of different issues rather than for a single clear-cut reason.
The lesson here is that you can’t be “center right” and in coalition with leftists. Eventually you will be forced to take a right-wing position and your coalition will dissolve.
The current crucial right wing position is “the welfare and future of my fellow Native Europeans is more important than the migrants who want to come here”.
The above statement will be controversial to some alleged conservatives here on FR.
It just means the PM can no longer hold together the coalition that put him into office, or he has lost the confidence of his own party, or both (or some other similar issue).
Mark Rutte trying to change the subject from the cow gas rules that will destroy the Dutch farmers.
They have created guilt societies through key words like racism, bigotry, humanitarian, white privilege, white supremacy, nationalism, indigenous peoples, prejudice, social justice, diversity equity and inclusion, reparations. And the people fall for it. A good number of them. There are a couple of examples though there is a third, but I can’t remember the guy’s name. Only that he was from Texas and decided to head into urban Chicago, thinking that he was gonna buddy-up via his liberal views.
Who remembers the guy from Austin(?). With his cowboy hat, he wandered into feral territory (I think it was Chicago but it’s been awhile), because, like, he was one of them and down with the cause. He had a play he had written - with the liberal SJW overtones.
Well, the ferals murdered him, anyways.
Two more who championed the SJW cause:
Corrina Mehiel
“Just a few days after she was photographed with Nancy Pelosi grinning in approval, friends found Mehiel tied up, stabbed, tortured, and ultimately dead at the hands of El Hadji Alpha Madiou Toure, a black man arrested driving her car and using her debit card.
He said he didn’t do it.”
“Her belief in black victimization came, she said, at an early age when her mother read to her the book that would change her life: It Takes a Village, by Hillary Rodham Clinton.”
By the way, he raped her too, before she died.
“Man Found Guilty in 2017 Rape, Murder of Artist Corrina Mehiel in NE DC Apartment”
David Ruenzel
“This is the kind of atmosphere that David Ruenzel helped to create with his early and oft-cited work on white privilege for the Southern Poverty Law Center. The kind mentioned in his obituaries. The kind that blinded him to the dangers of being a white person in a black neighborhood in Oakland.
Other visitors to the Huckleberry Botanic Regional Preserve where Ruenzel was murdered describe the trail as idyllic. An oasis. A hidden gem.
But commentators to the Oakland news site that reported Ruenzel’s death were a bit more explicit: “That parking lot is a well known site for smash and grabs,” said one of several. Others pointed out graffiti and other crimes.
Another commentator, as if he were channeling the dead writer, chided anyone who suggested however slightly that white people are at risk of violent crime from black people in Oakland: “I’ve never read more atrocious comments. The white fear/hate is pretty scary.”
This is the world the Southern Poverty Law Center hath wrought: Comments about killing are scarier than killing itself.”
“Some liberals, most of which are ego-soaked, look for ways to support their self-perceived importance so they champion imaginary causes for that purpose,” Newburn said. “They are adult-children who feel free to construct fantasies about their greatness. Their narcissism in part functions to blind them to inconvenient realities. So to compensate, they idealize the targets of their misdirected and pathological ‘caring.’”
Europe has precious few real conservatives --- small, pro-culture and pro-borders, anti-debt and unwilling to 'confiscate' property for "green" political goals -- such that the blather from the press as from Europeans about a "center-right" is window dressings to install and maintain various flavors of big government, willing to kiss the ring of "green" and globalist goals.
When a few rational Afro-Heritage American citizens desert the Democrats and join the minority-minority, the Progressive coalition will fail to hold on to power.
