If Ukraine is defeated in the war, the U.S. will have to send troops to fight Russia's further aggression, former Vice President Mike Pence said on the Hugh Hewitt Show on July 5.
"I have no doubt that if (Russian dictator) Vladimir Putin overran Ukraine, it would not be too long... before the Russian military crossed a border where we would have to send our fighting men and women to fight against them," the Republican presidential candidate said.
Pence called for speaking the truth about Russian war crimes, referencing his June 29 visit to Kyiv's suburbs Bucha and Irpin where massacres against civilians took place.
"What's going on in Ukraine is not just warfare. It's evil," he said.

Does Putin have such ideas? Based on the World War II analogies, Putin is Hitler, and Ukraine is either Austria, Czechoslovakia, or Poland. And we are supposed to respond based on the idea that Putin will roll over country after country as Hitler did.

No. Putin doesn’t want war. He warned against taking Ukraine into NATO and has made the Crimea his red line. They (NATO) kept killing Ukrainians of Russian descent after promising they would stop. So to avoid having NATO park missiles on his border, to stop the ‘use’ of the biowarfare labs the US was cultivating, to stop the killing of Russian nationals, to stop Ukraine from enterring into NATO - Putin attacked. He did so initially with restraint that got him labeled ‘weak’ by both the Ukrainians and his own people - he saw the country as a Slavic Christian nation and didn’t want this kind of warfare. He expected to compel negotiations.
But NATO was all in and it became clear NATO will grind up every single Ukrainian to ‘win’. So Russia stepped up agression to ‘get the job done’. Putin’s approval went up in his own country, because they fear NATO is an existential threat - I think they are right. NATO wants regime change so they can put in a NATO puppet and the Ruskies don’t want that.
SO no - Putin isn’t going to role through Europe although are Ukrainian trolls make it sound like he’s equipping a touring tank to his liking, for the big purge.

Putin wants to shield ethnic Russians living in the Ukraine who have voted to join Russia. Not saying they LIKE Russia hence they voted that way - I think Zelensky was worse and the Ukraine was targeting them so they voted to be independent (some regions in East Ukraine) and some voted to join Russia. Putin’s not interested in anything West of the river, but this is denied by Ukie trolls who insist first the Ukraine, then all of Europe...oh but also that he’s dying and weak etc.
As I see it, there is no kind of war that the US + nato could win against Russia. Granted nobody would win a nuclear war, but Russia would survive it and we would not.
