Christie: Trump Doesn’t Have the ‘Character’ to Be President, His Claims Are ‘Absurd’

Former Gov. Chris Christie (R-NJ), a candidate for the 2024 Republican presidential nomination, said Sunday on ABC’s “This Week” that former President Donald Trump does not have the “character” to be president.

Christie said, “I’ve been in the race for less than three weeks and already in third place in New Hampshire, only four points behind Ron DeSantis, who has been in the race for a longer time and is supposed to be the co-front-runner. Look, people understand that folks need to take responsibility for what they do. And my message to the folks at Faith and Freedom, which did get some good reactions, too. Of course, I expected the boos that is predominantly a Trump crowd, but they need to hear the truth, too. Character is the single most important element of a president of the United States because you can’t know every issue that’s going to come across the president’s desk. It’s not a litmus test with checkboxes in them. What you need to know is what is the character of that person.”

It’s a strange disease: all of the other candidates act and speak of Trump as if he had never been President. The delusion is strong.

Maybe it was his 4 years and policy of America First that attracts people to him and his campaign.

Millions were skeptical of Trump and didn’t want Hillary.
Then Trump governed, and millions more voted for him the second time.

Like Trump needed to show he wasn’t like the Bush-Clinton-Bush-Obama era, and not like Bush,Dole,Bush,McCain, Romney...

Poor Christie.

A guy most had to vote for to keep Hillary out.

Then Trump gets more votes the second time because of the job he did, all the while being public enemy number one to the Chris Christie type Swamp creatures in govt..

Somebody tell Chris, that Trump was already President.

Dear Mr. Christie. There are plenty of “characters” in government. We need a lot less of them. The cold, hard, reality is that in general those who have gravitated towards political careers and government over the past at least 60 years have been narcissistic, without particular talents (other than being able to bs well), and often without ethics or a moral compass. Trump was the first true outsider who took the reigns and demonstrated without question that those of you who have made government your careers are essentially wannabe emperors who have no clothes.

You use the word ‘character’ as a kind of reference to ‘nice behavior’. There are plenty of people in Washington who know which fork to use and can fit in at a country club. Those things don't matter at all when it comes to serving the American people. Having the talent to put America at the top of the international community, and a deep burning desire to be a servant to the people - preserving their individual rights, freedom, and self-determinism are what matter.

That said, under Trump we had China under control, we had the lowest black unemployment in American history, we had low inflation and a great economy, and we weren't funding a proxy war against a nuclear power. If you don't understand and acknowledge that, you aren't aware enough to be anywhere near any political office. You and your fellow never Trump pseudo-conservatives are hurting us while trying to help yourselves. That's not integrity, and that most definitively is not true character.

Yep and over the years Christie has consistenly lectured us on the “character” of Trump as Trump told us tall tales about witch hunts and wepaonized intel agencies…. But here we are , Trump still right…. Christie still fat petty and jealous.

Christie really needs to follow the old adage that it is better to keep one’s mouth shut and let people think him a fool, than it is to open one’s mouth and remove all doubt. He clearly is falling in the later case.
