Russian President Vladimir Putin pledged Saturday to defend the country and its people from an armed rebellion declared by Wagner Group chief Yevgeny Prigozhin, describing the call to action as a treasonous decision that puts the country’s survival in peril.
In a televised address Saturday morning, Putin said the mutiny amounted to "a deadly threat to our statehood," vowing there will be "tough actions" in response.
"All those who prepared the rebellion will suffer inevitable punishment," Putin stated. "The armed forces and other government agencies have received the necessary orders."
While he did not call Prigozhin out by name, he described the rebellion as a "criminal adventure, a grave crime, an armed mutiny" and encouraged those involved to "stop participating in criminal acts."

This video is from yesterday. I respect Col McGregor, deeply. He has more experience, honor and intelligence than most of our high ranking officers combined IMO.
He is behind much of our current modern military doctrine and led one of our Armored groups in a spectacular victory in the Gulf area. Still wont stop our Ukr-philes from slandering him. Anyway he seems to think you are right, this so called rebellion is much ado about little or nothing.

I suspect that Prigozhin was brought in in part as political insurance by Putin. He had good reasons to doubt the loyalty and steadfastness of most of the army. They had already begun to organise a separate peace when under stress - Kharkiv and Kherson. Prigozhin was his “fixer”.
A completely faulty comparison.
Regards,
And your comment to Desantis i take as attempted humor…
“He is behind much of our current modern military doctrine”
No, he isn’t. He himself was following a plan drawn up per actual US maneuver warfare doctrine.

So one battalion is going to overthrow the government of Russia? That’ll have as much success as a well outfitted battalion here taking on the us government. It’ll be a little speed bump. This is jist more propaganda.
Fact: Biden is right, about the overthrow of US government, much like the Russian government. You’ll need more than jist tanks and guns. In fact there would probably be many Russians that would not look kindly to a rogue bunch of military destroying infrastructure.
Who would replace putin? Could be far worse depending in who is installed. Cheering for a putin ouster may not be very wise.
McGregor’s great deeds showing promise are in the past. For at least the past 2 years he has been consistently and ridiculously wrong about everything.
That sometimes happens to men who face great disappointment - they lose their minds. McGregor firmly believes he should have been made a general (and perhaps he is right), but that didn’t happen.
Ever since this disappointment he has been nursing a deep hatred towards America, enlisted as a Russian propagandist for revenge and eventually went wholly insane.
Just look at his recent track record. Everything he has said has been proven wrong, but he doesn’t care.
At least he is consistent. He said “Russia will win in 3 weeks” 65 weeks ago and he has been saying the same thing every week since.
The Gulf War was decades ago. The advent of Done Wars 3.0 will require that we seriously rethink how we use armor, air power, artillery and ground troops.
“But begs the question...are there Russian troops that would support Wagner at this point...instead of the Army generals?”
You can’t possibly be serious.
A faulty comparison? Not from a soldier’s point of view. Wars are fought by soldiers, not historians.
From the article you linked:
“Pétain restored morale by talking to the men, promising no more suicidal attacks, providing rest for exhausted units, home furloughs, and moderate discipline”
“...Because of his high prestige as a soldier’s soldier, Pétain served briefly as Army Chief of Staff (from the end of April 1917). He then became Commander-in-Chief of the entire French army, replacing General Nivelle, whose Chemin des Dames offensive failed in April 1917 and thereby provoked widespread mutinies in the French Army. They involved, to various degrees, nearly half of the French infantry divisions stationed on the Western Front.
It’s about two Divisions, or maybe three in Russian terms. These are, moreover, combat units, not the REMFs that make up most armies. It seems to be that Russia is having trouble putting together an opposing force.
It also depends on whether what they are doing turns into a “preference cascade” event. That’s when other Army units choose to join the parade, or stand aside.
Sort of what happened when Napoleon returned from Elba in 1815 with 1500 men. A month later he was in Paris, running France again.
Or when Franco flew a few battalions of the Army of Africa to Sevilla in 1936; a tiny portion of the official Spanish conscript Army, but his men were professionals.
Etc. History is full of similar cases.
No guarantees, these things are gambles. That’s why Caesar said “alea jacta est”.
Good point
I thought you were referring to Petains role in 1940, when he advocated a surrender.
DeSantis has ALWAYS been deep state nothing new about that.
You can say that as much as you want, but DeSantis is one of the most conservative and effective Governors in the US.
