The Supreme Court on Friday handed the Biden administration a major victory on a key immigration case – ruling that GOP-led states do not have standing to challenge a policy narrowing federal immigration enforcement.

Congress.
Agreed. If I'm reading it correctly, Thomas said the states didn't say how reversing Biden's policies would remove the financial harm done to the states: "To establish standing to sue in federal court, a plaintiff must show that it has suffered a concrete and particularized injury, one that is both traceable to the defendant and redressable by a court order."
I believe "rederessable" is legal-eeze for: if the Fed quit acting like a butt then the financial pain experienced by the states would go away". In other words, it may have harmed the states' position if the states told the court things like "The harm the Biden is doing to us is irreparable". That might sound convincing to you and me, but in SCOTUS-legal-lingo it might be a case-killer to say that undoing the Fed's policy will not automatically ease the pain.
I really believe America would be “a better place” WITHOUT the friggin’ bottom feeding Feral Courts with their retarded “judges”. They are singlehandedly destroying the environment in this country by enlarging the size of our “carbon footprint” with their imported foreign freeloaders and banana boater voters. We won’t even go into how much the miggies have increased the crime in America.
The decision was 8-1, even Thomas sided with the majority.
And the Supremes have what army to enforce it....just askn for a FRiend.
Yep, the Fed Gummint, unfortunately, has control of the borders, and of border policy. Border states, and others, are left in a bind. They can’t interfere in border policy, but they have to bear the burden. They can take some action, like enforcing E-Verify as FL is doing, but what the states can do is limited.
Looking at the Court decision, the Court asked if it was the role of Judiciary to force the Executive Branch to make more arrests. Seems like a logical decision if you believe in limiting the power of the Courts. In this case maybe Congress should pass laws that are clear as to what the Gov’t can and can’t do.
Funny, when Pres Trump was in office, Dem states did whatever they wanted.
Never the other way around.
************
Yep, its all arbitrary and situational. Just the way the Dems want it to be.
Then the states have sovereign rights to defend their non-state borders and should enforce their own laws as such.
“Then who punishes the feds for failing to do their job of enforcement?”
Hmmm...”failing” indicates a failed effort. They are actively avoiding the job...or actively opposing it.
If you bothered to read the first paragraph of the Syllabus, you’d know the answer to your question.
All three branches of government are staffed by idiots, crooks politicians and judges bought by China and Russia.
I see absolutely no reason to respect ANY of these liars and oath breakers.
We are done. I am sure some asshole will be by shortly to take me away for re-education.
F^^k all of them!
Nominally, the voters.
Then we (the voters) have been failing miserably at OUR job! < /semi-sarc >
So (and I say this as a Floridian) if DeSantis REALLY wanted to make a name for himself in next year's election, instead of running around the country, he would come back to Tallahassee, call a special session of the state legislature, and set up a state immigration enforcement mechanism that would find illegal immigrants within Florida's borders, gather them up, and transport them out of the country, at the rate of perhaps 500-1000 a day, as the rest of the nation watches, and the Feds, because of this ruling, can't do anything about it--they will try, of course, which will cause a "constitutional crisis," but it's the kind of "crisis" we desperately need now.
Do it anyway
Agree....they don’t have the personnel to enforce it.
Besides the fact that all Rats ignore what the SCOTUS rules anyway.
Aren’t they following the US Constitution? Doesn’t the Federal government have the power to protect the borders?
Perhaps it’s time to cease being a border state,
and once again become a Republic.
“The Eyes of Texas” are upon you....
Someone’s panties are in a bunch
exactly. become ungovernable.
Excellent idea! But the sticking point is funding the effort. Who pays for it?
Power, yes. Desire, inclination, motivation, NO!
