Rep. Anna Paulina Luna (R-FL) had a plan to censure Rep. Adam Schiff (D-CA) for his role in perpetuating the Russia hoax, which ended up costing U.S. taxpayers tens of millions of dollars, and almost irreparable damage to the country’s political system.
The move was supported by a large swathe of America First Republicans, though DeSantis supporters like Rep. Thomas Massie came out against it, on spurious terms.
Now, the full list of so-called Republicans who sided with Democrats and Adam Schiff can be revealed, perhaps demonstrating which so-called “conservatives” need primary challengers at their next election.
The list of Republicans in Name Only: Kelly Armstrong (R-ND).
Lori Chavez-DeRemer (R, OR-5).
Juan Ciscomani (R, AZ-6).
Tom Cole (R, OK-4).
Warren Davidson (R, OH-8).
Brian Fitzpatrick (R, PA-1).
Kay Granger (R, TX-12).
Garrett Graves (R, LA-6).
Thomas Kean (R, NJ-7).
Kevin Kiley (R, CA-3).
Young Kim (R, CA-40).
Mike Lawler (R, NY-17).
Thomas Massie (R, KY-4).
Tom McClintock (R, CA-5).
Marc Molinaro (R, NY-19).
Jay Obernolte (R, CA-23).
Mike Simpson (R, ID-2).
Michael Turner (R, OH-10).
David Valadao (R, CA-22).
Steve Womack (R, AR-3).
California Republicans are disproportionately represented in the list, raising questions as to whether their proximity to Schiff in his district (CA-30) affected their votes.
Rep. Luna said after the vote: “20 Republicans voted against the fine, censure, and investigation of Schiff. I don’t think they read the bill in entirety. Next week, we will be filing a motion to censure and investigate Schiff. We are removing fine as that seems to be what made these Republicans uneasy.”
McClintock is certainly a shock. He was a budget hawk and was solidly backed by California conservatives. He might have become governor in 2003 if Arnold Schwarzenegger hadn't jumped in at the last minute.
Kevin Kiley is also a shock, as he is well-liked by conservatives.
Each House may determine the Rules of its Proceedings, punish its Members for disorderly Behaviour and, with the Concurrence of two thirds, expel a Member. -- U.S. Constitution (Article I, Section 5, Clause 2)
If Massie can read this plain language of the U.S. Constitution and determine that a fine imposed on Adam Schiff is somehow "unconstitutional," then he's disingenuous at best and a lying fraud at worst.
.
Massie is a Fraud
He also joined all Dems when Trump wanted the Southern Border labeled an Emergency.
Total Fraud.
Young Kim, who represented me before redistricting, is a cute little girl with a sweet personality. But I wouldn’t trust her any further than I can throw an ice box. At a town hall meeting in 2021, someone asked her about the J6 prisoners being held without due process. She said she knew nothing of them, even though Marjorie Taylor Greene and others have been raising the subject on Capitol Hill, where she works.
That's entirely possible. He's a professional politician; lying speech is his native tongue.
That doesn't disprove my point that judgment of constitutionality is not exclusive to the courts.
At a minimum, he should have recused himself from voting on this censure/fine. He is fighting his own legal battle to recover a fine that was imposed on him, so he's got a conflict of interest in the matter.
BTW, if you want a fantastic example of “disingenuous at best and lying fraud at worst”, I recommend “Roe v. Wade” for your consideration.
First time shiffty wasn’t lying.
Given the conflict of interest, that would certainly not be out of bounds.
Some folks on this forum would still excoriate him for that.
Maybe its time for a NEW PARTY to replace the worn out corrupted GOP? We need new people beyond corruption and blackmail. A new Tea Party Movement—Grass roots—new people running. I say this—IF TRUMP IS SHUT OUT OF THE NOMINATION—I Would follow Trump to any Party he should form or lead. WE NEED A REAL REFORM PARTY-—Trump/Tucker Carlson Ticket, Symbol: The Lion, Motto: “I have not yet begun to fight!” Mission: Clean the Swamp and Peace in our time. We need to shake things up and Trump is just the man to do it.
Oh it does.
Massie has an opinion. Courts decide.
Yet, he did not allow his opinion to be tested by the Courts by voting no.
Brian Fitzpatrick (R, PA-1).
My idiotic Rep-—However, I had to vote for this moron to make sure we have the numbers to control the house.
Not that house Republicans have done much to stop all this crap.
To be honest, I would have preferred to see him eliminate the conflict of interest by dropping his own lawsuit. Mandating masks in the House chambers was idiotic, but there's no way to get around the fact that the House can make its own rules like that. If the House votes to require all of its members to wear New York Yankees uniforms on the House floor, then Massie has no legal/constitutional basis to oppose the measure.
I thought the $16 million fine was most likely unconstitutional so get rid of it and hold another vote. Litigate via the court system or in an ethics investigation against Schiff.
Congressmen, Senators, and Presidents also decide.
If Congressmen, Senators, and Presidents DID THEIR JOB, Courts wouldn't get the opportunity to decide. Any Congressman, Senator, or President who FAILS to consider constitutionality when considering a bill before him has utterly and completely failed to do his job.
And that’s 1 if the reasons why we have been losing.
.
It’s a moving target, because they are excuses only.
And notice they have no problem with the unconstitutionally of Schiff monitoring phone records of Republicans and Trump Attorneys without a Warrant.
