If Ron DeSantis wants to wrest front-runner status away from Donald Trump in the 2024 Republican presidential race, he’s going to have to resolve his trouble with female voters.
That’s one takeaway from a new poll by The Economist and YouGov, which illustrates that DeSantis is dragging with women voters, and is stronger with men.
While DeSantis only trails Trump 48% to 26% with male voters, with former United Nations envoy Nikki Haley and U.S. Sen. Tim Scott of South Carolina each taking 4% for a distant third, he’s doing much worse with women.
In this survey, 54% of female Republicans back Trump, with just 17% backing DeSantis. In third place with women voters: former Vice President Mike Pence, who has 6% support.
All told, Trump has a 51% to 21% lead over the Florida Governor.
“Trump continues to be the top choice of registered voters who are Republicans or independents who lean toward the Republican Party. Among this group, Trump holds a 30-percentage-point lead over Florida Governor Ron DeSantis in a hypothetical Primary held now; all other announced candidates tested are in single digits,” the polling memo notes.
“Trump fares better — and DeSantis fares worse — among women in this group of registered Republicans and Republican leaners; Trump performs better among people in this group without a college degree and DeSantis among people with one. One in 10 Republican and Republican-leaning voters (11%) aren’t sure whom they’d support in a hypothetical Primary held in their state today.”
DeSantis has just 16% support among those Republicans who did not graduate college, 43 points behind Trump. But among grads, the two are in a dead heat statistically, with Trump taking 33% and DeSantis commanding 32%.
DeSantis also struggles with voters 45 years of age and up, taking just 18% against 54% for Trump. Meanwhile, this poll suggests he does not have particular appeal in his region of the country.
“Even in the South, DeSantis’s home region, the Florida Governor trails the former President by 30 points — the same as Trump’s lead nationwide.”
I agree 💯
Ben Shapiro, who I listen to, said Trump may be the ONLY man Biden could beat. Due to the unreasonable hatred towards him from the left and center. That from 6 years of media and big tech smearing him.
White middle class women voted overwhelmingly for Obama and Biden. Not sure why they would support someone like that or someone who would lock us down for 2 weeks, allow big pharma to create vaxxes that caused 96% of males 18 to 24 to be hospitalized for jab myocarditis. They love his erasure of 10,000 small businesses and the suffering of people who died alone in Hospitals and homes with family who tried everything they could to spend the last hours with their moms, dads, sisters, brothers and other loved ones. These folks didn’t even get the decency of a funeral.
Yes, let them speak for Constitutional women.
When they start castrating children in the classroom they will still vote for Marxist rule.
Astorge.
DeSantis intends to be the guy standing after they shoot Trump.

Yeap, and more and more people are starting to see it for what it is (was). DeSantis should have declared that he would not run in 2024, then he should have met with Trump in a supposedly “secret” meeting which would have been covered by the media and left everyone guessing. Then, they both should have said nothing to the public and used it as their Trump card in April/May of next year and clearly stating that if Trump were convicted that he would drop out of the race and fully endorse DeSantis who would in turn announce that he would pardon Trump on Day One of winning the presidency! Instead we have a sh*t show on the Republican side because poor Ron allowed himself to be deceived by the very same people who screwed over Trump within the party! Go figure....not a strategist among them!
"I love desantis as governor. I love trump as president. I wish this would stop. It’s hurting both."
We go through this every primary season. I wouldn't lose sleep over it.
While I can sympathize with your point of view IMO DeSantis is bought & sold by the Globalists/Wall Street. I would no more vote for him than for Romney, Jeb, Cruz or Haley.
For years we have been told the lesser of two evils is a winning strategy.
I have come to believe that voting for the lesser of two evils is conniving at our own destruction by kicking the can down the road as American values crumble & erode. Better that the left is exposed by the evil they bring ASAP, such that the American public rises up and revolts against them.
The illusion of a “Republican” administration that is, in truth, aligned firmly with the uniparty lulls Americans to sleep, to wait, to grumble, to believing that politics is just a sport and doesn’t effect their lives, their children’s lives and their right to exist and flourish in a free society.
The lesser of two evils mantra has made Americans as lobsters basking in a pot where the heat is slowly rising. So I will never vote for DeSantis who is an outwardly conservative uniparty creature, being shaped by Globalist elites to take out Trump, the only America first candidate in decades, and install a President from either party who will protect the Globalists’ power & wealth stream by transforming America into a service economy where speech is not free, justice is not equal and merit is irrelevant.
Literally yesterday you crapped on a poll because it showed your cult-leader Trump behind Biden. But THIS poll is accurate because it tells you what you want to hear. LOL! You’re like one of those fat seals who sits in the View’s audience and claps like a seal at Joy Behar when she says something you want to hear.
Thanks, you sound like you are preparing to graduate the fifth grade.
I’ve had to lower my vocabulary to deal with the lunacy of Trump supporters who only believe the polls that support their views.
You know, I don’t even know what you are talking about. Your uninvited comment makes no sense in the context of the post you responded to which BTW wasn’t even directed at you.
So if you are going to randomly do drive by responses please at least address the content of the post.
Generally, women prefer alpha males, which DeSantis isn’t. Trump, for all his faults, is alpha.
And just to let you know, this is a public forum. If you want to converse with just one other person, there is a "mail" function.
Apparently you lack reading comprehension abilities.
Okey Dokey"
At least you agree with President Hillary.

Hillary Clinton has a 7-point lead over Donald Trump nationally, according to a Quinnipiac University poll released Wednesday.
Completely immaterial to the current discussion. Just go look in a mirror and say “I only believe polls that tell me what I want to hear” then go put on your clown nose and shoes.
I understand, you supported Hillary and can’t stand Trump, go back to DU.
“...a new poll by The Economist and YouGov...”
That says it all, pay no attention to this BS poll
I respect your opinion.
Yet how are you so sure? That Desantis is Deep State?
I’ve tried to follow him a little and really he has done many things that were not deep state:
1. Fought woke Disney
2. Pushed for more liberal COVID restrictions compared to places like Cuomo in New York
3. Fought against Trans ideology in schools.
These are 3 I can remember off the top of my head but here is an article that lists many and I’d say 90% are very conservative, no one is perfect sure.

Finally as you are polite I will share something with you you may not believe. Trump IS my first choice, he is just a proven loser (POTUS nomination I mean). My priority is to kick Biden/Harris out of office, not blind loyalty.
My logic is inescapable:
1. He lost because the moderates , women , and left hate him due to media slandering. And he will lose again.
Or
2. The election was stolen. And if true they will steal it again as the republicans have really done nothing to drastically change any of the systems or voting laws (that I know of).
Perhaps with a fresh face both will be harder to do?
Have a great evening.
