The 60-year-old one-time Trump whisperer made his case for a presidential run in a fiery 45-minute rant that focused entirely on the man he went on to back in the 2016 election.
‘It was all about Trump. He was just wants to get into the ring with him and beat him up. He’s not in it to win it,’ said one source present at the previously unreported closed-doors event.
Another source said: ‘Christie seemed very angry. He was saying I am the guy who can take on Trump, but I was left wondering if he had any other policies.’

Does Christie really hate Trump?
I don’t get that sense. Christie seems to be merely a hired henchman with no principles. As soon as DeSanctus’ numbers started going south, the GOPe hired Crispy Creme to go out there and stir up the animals.
But fewer and fewer GOPe types can take on this work because they’ve all been discredited — Romney, Cruz, Cheney — the list of people who can attack Trump is getting shorter and shorter.
Christie’s schtick is not working either. It’s probably backfiring.
