Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, Donald Trump's leading rival for the 2024 GOP nomination, said the decision to charge the former president demonstrated political bias in the Biden Justice Department and it's "weaponization" of its police powers.
Trump was indicted Thursday on federal charges involving conspiracy, obstruction, and taking classified documents.
"The weaponization of federal law enforcement represents a mortal threat to a free society," Florida Governor Ron DeSantis stated Thursday. "We have for years witnessed an uneven application of the law depending upon political affiliation. Why so zealous in pursuing Trump yet so passive about Hillary or Hunter?"
DeSantis said his administration "will bring accountability to the DOJ, excise political bias and end weaponization once and for all."
Other GOP candidates made supportive statements, but not all.

Because, if desantis really cared about not looking deceptive, wouldn't he have disavowed his his fake, ai generated images in his ad and fired the staff that made the ad, by now?
DeSantis’ statement was appropriate for this outrageous action by the DOJ.

DeSantis’s handlers are smart in having him wait for the indictment to happen, since now what he says cannot prevent the actual indictment from taking place...since it already happened.
In other words, if they had DeSantis speak up earlier in the week, then the possibility would have existed that the Justice Department would have pulled-back the indictment...since it would have risked backfiring on them.

Trump had a republican majority and squandered it. He ended up giving democrats a majority in congress.
Good. Trump will have to convince a jury he’s innocent. For once, I hope he listens to his lawyers instead of thinking he’s the smartest guy in the room. His arrogance got him to where he is today. But he himself can get himself out of this mess.
