Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, Donald Trump's leading rival for the 2024 GOP nomination, said the decision to charge the former president demonstrated political bias in the Biden Justice Department and it's "weaponization" of its police powers.
Trump was indicted Thursday on federal charges involving conspiracy, obstruction, and taking classified documents.
"The weaponization of federal law enforcement represents a mortal threat to a free society," Florida Governor Ron DeSantis stated Thursday. "We have for years witnessed an uneven application of the law depending upon political affiliation. Why so zealous in pursuing Trump yet so passive about Hillary or Hunter?"
DeSantis said his administration "will bring accountability to the DOJ, excise political bias and end weaponization once and for all."
Other GOP candidates made supportive statements, but not all.

I would've voted for Trump or DeSantis as the winners of the Republican Primary because I feel it's that damn' important to root out the corruption that infests every level, every department of our Government and get Biden out.

The statement lacks any passion or anger at the disgusting persecution of a former President and the leading opposition candidate.

Have you no concept of objectivity?
This is politics.
This is still America or at least the shell of what was once a Free Republic.
As long as you have freedom of speech and free elections of which the latter is debatable, no serious person can expect objectivity from the supporters of candidates.
The supporters of our founders such as Hamilton and Jefferson were not objective.
I probably have some sense of objectivity but I would never apply it to political debate.
A word to the wise.
If you are looking for objective discussions, stay away from religion and politics.
Little objectivity will be found in other field.
There are some things were a little passionate subjectivity is a good thing.

Gimme a break. Trump and his supporters would be having a field day if the shoe was on the other foot, and anyone who’s honest knows it.
But DeSantis and most of his supporters are going to be supportive of Trump on this issue, and the battle against the two tiered system of justice.
However Trump supporters just shouldn’t expect we’re now going to grovel before him, as if he’s some sort of deity, as they do. We rightfully see his ridiculous (at times) behavior, belief he is above the law, and inability to clean out the deep state (appointing Wray no less), are a big part of the problem we now face.

I never said DeSantis was a bad guy. He isn’t, and I do like what he’s done for Florida. He is a great POLITICIAN. But that’s just it, he’s a politician, beholden to the donors and the establishment. As much good as he may do as President, he will never do what Trump has done. No one will. I will no longer vote in favor of uniparty, establishment politicians. My vote for Trump in ‘24 is my last ditch effort, because I know no one will make a stand like Trump has. That’s just a fact.
Instead of running for President, why NOT put that energy, conviction and those resources into defending Trump and stopping Liberals’ crime spree?????????????????

He's alluded that the DOJ only became weaponized in the Biden Administration. He's only named one President that the DOJ has become weaponized under. It started before Trump even took office, and continued through his whole four years, but that's something DeSantis has conveniently left out.
