Biden Regime Set to Ban OVER HALF of all Gas Furnaces and Change How Millions Heat Their Homes

Now the Biden regime is willing to let you freeze to death to continue their radical “climate change” agenda.

The Regime will soon finalize new regulations severely restricting what furnaces you can buy for your home in the future and make new purchases more expensive. The rules were originally proposed back in June 2022 by the Department of Energy (DOE).

Here are the full details of the regulations courtesy of Fox News, which first broke the story. The rules could finalized at any point over the next several weeks.

Under the proposed regulations, DOE would require furnaces to achieve an annual fuel utilization efficiency (AFUE) of 95% by 2029, meaning manufacturers would only be allowed to sell furnaces that convert at least 95% of fuel into heat within six years. The current market standard AFUE for a residential furnace is 80%.

The network explains this would take non-condensing gas furnaces off the market due to AFUE requirements. Consumers who replace their non-condensing furnaces with a condensing one would face potentially cost-prohibitive installation costs.

Richard Meyer, the vice president of energy markets, analysis and standards at the American Gas Association (AGA), called the rule “concerning.”

There are some really technical reasons why this is such a concerning rule. It has to do with the ability for consumers to be in compliance with this new efficiency standard.

They’re going to have to, in many cases, install new equipment to exhaust gas out of their home. These higher efficiency units, or so-called condensing units — a lot of consumers have them in their home, but a lot of consumers don’t. So, this rule would require additional retrofits for a lot of consumers. And those retrofits can be extremely cost prohibitive.

No mention of home heating oil furnaces which are common in the Northeast.

They denied they were going to do it and now they do it. Similar to this:

Now:

They’ll probably just ban heating oil altogether. Because oil.

The DOE should not have any “requirement” abilities for home appliances. The most they should have is like a “comsumer reports” table/list showing what models of home appliances they rate as “O.K.”, “Good”, “Better” and “Best”, in different categories of ratings. Then based on the buyers desires and pocketbook they can make informed choices. That is as far as the DOE should be able to go on home appliances. They should have zero enforcement powers on such things either with manufacturers or consumers. We can strip them of such errant excutive dictates with legislation.

I can't stand the Dims' stupid energy policies.

But it is what it is. For what it's worth, if you live in the southern portion of the U.S. you might want to consider a variable speed heat pump, with heat strips for when the cold weather is too cold. That combination works well for me in north central Alabama.

Stinking communist bastards continue to run roughshod over the servile & indolent Aamerican serfs...

Not going to change “how” people heat their homes so much as “if” people heat their homes. If you live in the north, you know that a heat pump isn’t ideal in very cold weather, though it’s reasonable to use here in the south.

The gas company in Ohio, where I used to live, used to advertise that “gas heat is warm heat” and they were right.

People won’t be able to afford to heat their homes without gas, you watch. Then, the great government “savior” that caused the problem will present a solution. That solution will come at the expense of others, as all government solutions do.

But it is what it is.

Pre-emptive surrender is how the Fedgov over-reach has hit this point.

THERE IS NO LEGIT AUTHORITY FOR THEM TO BE DOING THIS.

Period. Full stop. End of story.

This is literally the level of control over our lives that caused Thomas Jefferson and his friends to start shooting British Soldiers in the FACE.

Also, now that I’ve read more than the headline, an 80% furnace is a LOT cheaper to buy than a 95%+ furnace. It’s also a lot less complicated, meaning a lot less to go wrong. I’ll stick with my 80%. If someone doesn’t like it, they can pry it from my cold dead garage.

True that. And it wasn't too long ago that the government was pushing gas as the solution, not the problem. Remember when they were pushing people to switch more of their heating to "clean burning" natural gas? Remember the Obama years when the EPA was forcing power companies to shut down coal plants and replace them with "clean burning" natural gas fueled plants?

Now those same Dims are demanding we're evil for following their prior mandates to switch to gas.

It’s hard to believe that there was a time when this country had a rebellion because of a tax on whiskey.
