Reporter Asks John Kirby on Claims That Russia Destroyed the Dam: “Doesn’t Seem Logical, Similar to Blowing Up One’s Own Pipeline”

In a press conference held Tuesday, a reporter confronted National Security Council spokesman John Kirby regarding claims that Russia had launched an attack destroying the Nova Kakhovka dam in the Russian-controlled parts of Ukraine’s Kherson region.

“Does it seem believable to you that Russia would destroy a dam and flood ethnic Russian villages, and cut off a water supply to Crimea? I mean, that doesn’t seem logical. It seems about as logical as blowing up one’s own pipeline, doesn’t it?” the reporter asked.

Kirby, however, did not directly address the question but indicated that they were actively seeking information from Ukrainian sources.

“We’ve come to no conclusions on this. We’re working with the Ukrainians. We’ll try to get as much information as we can,” said Kirby.

--

The Gateway Pundit previously reported that the Ukrainian military accused Russian forces of intentionally blowing up the dam at the Nova Kakhovka hydroelectric power station on Tuesday.

“Russian terrorists,” said Zelenskyy. “The destruction of the Kakhovka hydroelectric power plant dam only confirms for the whole world that they must be expelled from every corner of Ukrainian land. Not a single meter should be left to them, because they use every meter for terror. It’s only Ukraine’s victory that will return security. And this victory will come. The terrorists will not be able to stop Ukraine with water, missiles or anything else.”

However, Russia denied the allegation and blamed shelling by the Ukrainian army.

Russian state news agency, RIA Novosti, reported that the shelling by the Ukrainian army reportedly destroyed the upper half of the Kakhovskaya hydroelectric power station.

The outlet reported:

Ukrainian troops continue to inflict artillery strikes on the area of the Kakhovskaya hydroelectric power station, RIA Novosti correspondent reports. Also, several shells fell in Novaya Kakhovka , eyewitnesses reported.

Last night shelling by the Ukrainian army destroyed the upper part of the Kakhovskaya hydroelectric power station. The blow, presumably, was delivered from the Alder MLRS. There is an unregulated discharge of water. According to the head of the administration of Novaya Kakhovka , Vladimir Leontyev, the valves on the dam were demolished, but the dam itself was not damaged. He added that the rise in the water level in the Dnieper within the city is from two and a half to four meters.

Personally, the gross incompetence and failure of the Russian Army control and command structure has been overwhelming since the February 2022.

Russia uses a very heavy hand with its rockets and artillery approach to war.

Could it have been Ukrainians? Yes, but I would wager Russians or Wagner's or others were definitely involved and their goals were short term associated with destruction of Ukrainian infrastructure and agriculture.

If Russia is not careful, they will give Crimea to Ukraine. Actually, if the water dries up, the Crimean agriculture fails, and the bridge from Russia is destroyed even more, the people of Crimea will have to leave or starve.

I tried to find tonight’s new episode but it seems that he didn’t do one.

I hope last night’s episode wasn’t just a cheap publicity stunt for him to use to try to get out of his Fox contract.

In 1812 the Russians burnt Moscow practically to the ground rather than surrender it to Napoleon.

The problem is proving it. It’s just someone’s words without evidence.

Yes - that's why I framed it the way that I did.

I searched before I posted that, too.

The Russians surely would have waited for the bulk of a Ukrainian forces to cross the river then blew the Dam,thus cutting them off.
The Dam was always a waiting trap for the Ukrainians.

No, it’s not believable that Ukraine or the US want to destroy Ukraine. It’s perfectly within historical realm that either Russia neglected the dam to the point it collapsed or that it simply was blown up by Russia in an orgy of Stalinist collective punishment against Ukrainians. There is plenty of historical precedence in Russian history for both options there.

I think Ukraine blew up the dam. I knew it as soon as all the deep state mouthpieces came out blaming Russia before there was any evidence. They do it all the time. If I want to know the truth I just look at the propaganda the media puts out and believe the exact opposite. That strategy has been very accurate over the years.

Russia did not blow up the pipeline or the dam, Ukraine.

Nor did the Kremlin shoot those 20,000 Poles in the head at Katyn. Kremlin Bolsheviks lied about Katyn for 50 years just as they now lie about their latest genocide of Ukrainians.

US and UK/Nato would have no problem ordering Zelensky’s people to blow it up - they had already tested the possibilty some time ago. They have no regard for Ukrainian people.
