Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) called the Canadian wildfires “truly unprecedented,” in floor remarks on Wednesday, and warned of the ongoing damage caused by climate change.
“This morning, our nation’s capital — and much of the northeast, including almost the whole of my state, New York — woke up once again under a veil of smog,” Schumer said. “As we speak, wildfires of unnatural strength continue blazing in Canada, sending toxic air and smoke over the border and over American cities.”

What does Smucky want to do? Maybe declare war on Little Fidel?
Wildfires are worse for the climate than Irish cow farts?
Canada has not cleaned out its underbrush in like 20 years.
California has been following the same deranged policy.
In certain parts of California, tree density is 3X normal because of intensive fire control.
When the weather gets hostile - hot, dry, windy - these ultra dangerous forests ignite like a tank farm of gasoline.
I’m sixty four years old living in NY the whole time and this is the first of this Canada smoke I’ve heard of. Naturally Ive been wondering when global whatever would be cited.
Canada farted. big deal Chuck.
Should happen to Politics to clean out the old growth
Fires of unnatural strength are common for the western US.
Growing up I had a book about New England weather. There have been many heavy smoke events here over the centuries.
“If we really want to save the planet we need to send all the “climate change” propagandists to Mars!”
Elon is working on that.
The star ship will work eventually.
The sky is falling! Before the white man came the native americans would burn the grass lands every summer.
I remember the good ol days when climate change caused all of the california reservoirs to dry up
Further signs of mismanagement by the forest service. Never any acceptance of responsibility. Always the demand for more power and money.
Canada lets the fires burn because they don’t have the resources or infrastructure to put them out. They focus their efforts on protecting towns and structures.
I knew all this hyperbolic hand-wringing was certain to come. The Northwest suffers this just about every single year and the smoke they are experiencing is not even that bad by our standards and we can have it for weeks.
They talk about global warming every time here too, but the Native American historians all reference how fire was a natural part of the cycle here well before any settlers moved West. It is worse now because we put out the small fires (eventually causing very big fires), we have an incredibly unhealthy forest through mismanagement (and pine beetles), and we are a weak-kneed people (panic over something that is natural).
I was wondering if throwing money at this would’ve prevented it.
Another thing Trudeau is mismanaging.
