You are right, but we believed “shock and awe” was about keeping the nation safe. My blood still boils on 9/11.
Tragically, what “shock and awe” really meant was using 100 million dollar planes to drop 3 million dollar bombs to destroy $10,000 bridges that we then paid “contractors” 10 million to rebuild. Rinse and repeat with some dead and mangled young Americans mixed in but they rarely saw a dime of the money flow.
“War” is now an exercise in corporate politics of corruption.

General Mark Milley was originally recommended to President Donald Trump by then-Defense Secretary James Mattis. In December 2018, Mattis recommended Milley, who was serving as the Army Chief of Staff at the time, to succeed Marine General Joseph Dunford as the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff. Trump ultimately nominated Milley for the position, and he was confirmed by the Senate in July 2019.
It's pathetic we have operatives here trying to undermine Trump for that reason.
Interesting timing and subject matter, if not outright spin or diversion, as per the news report I heard on the way home from work today, that they now have a voice recording of Trump admitting that some (if not all) of the classified items he took home with him were in fact still classified, based on some classified plans to invade Iran.
He divulged that in some manner when speaking during an interview with someone about the plan to invade Iran, well after he had left office. Trump told an interviewer something along the lines of “I have this classified plan in my files at home with regard to invading Iran, that proves Milley is wrong, but I can’t show it to you because it’s still classified.”
I haven’t heard anything else about that, or seen any threads here yet, but if Trump said that it indicates that he well knew there was a process for declassifying documents that he didn’t go through, and this story here is being seeded to try to spin it in another direction.
At least, we had good reason to go to Afghanistan and hunt down Al Qaeda. Bush even came up with what appeared to be a moral reason to go to Iraq even though those reasons ended up being a lie.

Miley was Trump’s choice.
Eisenhower and his Generals won THE war. Unfortunately, today’s REAL Generals can’t get beyond Lt. Col. That’s how screwed up the DoD is.
I don't trust a word Milley says. And the new CJCS is going to be even worse - an out and out race warrior.
