ROTFLMAO. From Fake News to Fake College Grads. I LOVE THIS COUNTRY!!!
I was a published writer in two national magazines in my sophomore year (”Video Games”, “Video Gaming Illustrated”), and they paid ME. Best job I ever had.
Both of my sons will be publishing books this year, but doing it the real way, writing their own books. And yes, as they are real, it will likely help them when they get to college admissions.
My son was asked by his high school English teacher if he wanted to write a column for a local monthly community magazine, as she knew the publisher. He started a column entitled “Spectacular Student” and wrote it for two and a half years, unpaid.
It featured a different student each month, students with high test scores, or had interesting hobbies such as horse jumping, or did significant volunteer activities.
To me the implication was that he was a spectacular student as well. It seems to have paid off because he was admitted to every school he applied to and is now a junior at a top 30’s college.
And it didn’t cost a dime!
This is just another case of “rent seeking.”
90% of higher education is just “feeding on the young.”
Also known as: jobs for Democrats.
“Publication” is overrated....just like “higher education”.
There parents are proving P.T. Barnum correct!
They were doing this long ago with phony “who’s who of high school students” where gullible parents would pay a huge sum to buy the book with their mediocre kid’s name in it.
Anyone can pay to be published
So, this is where Scientific American is going to be getting their research now?
