HOLLYWOOD, LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- Frustrated business owners in Hollywood are pleading with the city to help deal with a large homeless encampment growing in the area.
The encampment is near Martel Avenue and Sunset Boulevard. The city cleared out the encampment roughly a year ago, but it's back and growing.
One local business owner blames the city for not policing the area and letting homeless people move back in without any pushback.
Other business owners are so frustrated, they've hired security.
Business owners are not the only ones upset the homeless have moved back in.
Hollywood resident Charlotte Duvall said the situation is "disheartening."

They’re not homeless. They are just bums.
Nothing like voting Democrat and then COMPLAINING about the policies of the Democrats you helped vote in.
Send them to the celebrity’s homes.
Cause meets effect.
And the residents of Hollywood can’t make the connection.
L
Drugged and drunk bums at that.
Tent dwellers are not homeless. They live in tents
California spent billions on the “homeless problem.”
When that didn’t work, they doubled down and spent billions more.
When that didn’t solve the problem, they doubled down again and spent billions and billions more.
It’s a real mystery why that didn’t cure the problem.
Not quite…drug vagrants better describes them, IMHO. A customer of mine who is a psychiatrist that fled Seattle for a more sane part of the state calls them “Feral Humans!” She’s right too.
They’re not homeless. They are just bums.
~~~
Sadly.
They say that most homeless are either mentally ill or sever drug addicts. I ask if there’s much of a difference when the addiction causes psychological problems, including shirking all responsibility to keeping a home, to a family, and even to own welfare, for the sake of the addiction.
I don’t say this to be mean, because I’m sure there people who are genuinely beset with misfortune, but for those people, there are resources, between the family that can help them up, the state, and religious and secular charitable organizations. No one has to stay homeless if they don’t want to be... which leads back to the mental illness problem.
Out of sight, out of mind!
People, such as those in Hollywood, don’t want the nuisance. NIMBY.
They’d prefer that the homeless just go into the desert.
But aside from some of the reasons the desert is inhospitable, they can’t go out there anyway. The homeless need society. They are not just ‘bums’ as imabadboy99 calls them, they are parasites. They need to panhandle. They need access to resources. They need access to the drugs (although I suspects the drugs would find their way to the homeless just fine). They need people and places to commit crimes to survive. Not only does their addiction and mental illness push them to shirk all responsibility, the reality of their condition is that they need to stay close to people and resources, and the relationship is sadly parasitic.
And/or mentally ill.
Leave those mail in voters alone
The border states ought to bus a bunch of Bidens “dreamers” to Hollywood (and Marthas Vineyard, the Hamptons, Washington DC, Chicago) and dump them.
Urban campers??
Where do they get all the tents?
Vote like your business depends on it, LA Democrats. Your ideology has consequences. Failing consequences.
That’s what the mafia is for
You mean the loving and tolerant Hollowoodies are clamping down on the homeless and downtrodden? Uppity Hollywood elites just aren’t what they used to be.
The solution is New Deal style CCC camps, where their drug and mental problems at least can be supervised and dealt with - yes, in the desert. Enforce vagrancy laws.
