In a phone interview with radio host Glenn Beck for the Thursday edition of The Glenn Beck Program, DeSantis finally punched back against those claims. A clip from their exchange began circulating Twitter via Citizen Free Press.
“I think he did great for three years, but when he turned the country over to Fauci in March of 2020, that destroyed millions of people’s lives,” DeSantis said. “In Florida, we were one of the few that stood up, cut against the grain, took incoming fire from media, bureaucracy, the left, even a lot of Republicans, had schools open, preserved businesses.”

Great post. Until you get into the part that we somehow owe Trump our vote, now, even though he’s reverted back to a liberal right in front of our eyes.
Trump: No quarantine, but travel advisory for NY, CT and NJ
The notion of a quarantine had been advocated by governors, including Republican Gov. Ron DeSantis of Florida, who sought to halt travelers from the heavily affected areas to their states. But it drew swift criticism from the leaders of the states in question, who warned it would spark panic in a populace already suffering under the virus.

Florida's DeSantis lifts coronavirus lockdown for remaining Miami-Dade, Broward counties
DeSantis, a Republican, said in a press conference alongside Broward County Mayor Dale Holeness and Miami-Dade County Mayor Carlos Gimenez in Doral that he was following President Trump’s recommendations to reopen the state.
You’re right, he had the right instincts. But he went away from them. He should have stuck to them! As for people begging him to do something, I’m sure you’re right, but then there were other people like me begging him to throw out the lockdownistas, and lead on his instincts. Would it have been worse if he had thrown them out? I don’t see how.
Yeah, it’s Monday morning quarterbacking. But then that’s part of what the primary season is. Examining the records of the candidates, and finding out who is best. For me, COVID-19 was not a stellar chapter in the Trump Presidency. I’m sure I will find out other negative things about DeSantis as we go along.
My Governor is the blame for my state. Not Trump
It was all local officials, not DeSantis, who opposed ANY mask mandates.
Florida’s Governor: Officials Can Require Face Masks, But Can’t Enforce It
In his order, the governor also targeted requirements that people wear face coverings in public places. Despite repeated requests from local officials and infectious disease experts, DeSantis refused to issue a statewide face covering mandate. But in Miami, Orlando, Tampa, and most other large and mid-size cities, local governments did.
He was fired wasn’t he? And who fired him?
The words you quoted are boilerplate.
Get your head out of your a$$.
And how was Trump to know this?
How was any previous President to know?
Try learning how hard it is to fire a tenured federal employee. You’re probably one yourself.
Trump has said one of the first things he will do when he’s back in the White House is go after all the Fed worker protections that allow them to suck on the federal teat for decades without providing service that is meaningful.
Let’s see, a quarter million govt lazy a$$holes on the payroll funded by taxpayers but let’s criticize Trump for the crap they put out!
Let’s criticize Trump, shall we?
Why didn't he when he was president before?
Donald Trump, unlike literally everyone else running for the 2024 Republican Party presidential nomination, was already president. There's an actual White House track record to look at there. Unlike with the others, it's fair with Trump to be like "why didn't he do this as president?"
Very true.

why didn’t he do this as president?”

The mandate to eliminate the Swamp wasn’t there..
The mandate to eliminate the Swamp is now there..
That’s what it will take.
Firings, but no more things like the FBI
Or the CDC
Or the NIH
Totally obliterate those in the swamp alphabet.
That wasn’t an election mandate for Trump
It is now.
Because of COVID scamdemic/pandemic
Because of a stolen election.
Because of a coup.
Death to the Deep State and Swamp is now a mandate..
The pandemic is the DeSantis camp’s favorite issue because it’s the easiest one for them to lie about. Most people don’t remember all the details of who mandated what, or who supported what policy. They just remember it was a tumultuous, dark time for the country and that it happened under Trump’s watch. Blaming Trump for all its ills is an easy sell to people who don’t want to bother wading through the actual details.
The CCP is probably smiling as they watch Covid revisionism being used to take out Trump a second time.
The GOPe spent the last 2 years creating the myth of DeSantis’s flawless handling of Covid, and all done so they can use it as their main line of attack against Trump. DeSantis has nothing else to run on.
Yeah right. I live 15 miles from you. You are completely ignorant if you thought everything didn’t open on may 1, 2020. Of course your 100 years old so that explains a lot.
“At least Trump shat on him publicly”
To be fair, DJT has shat on a lot of people lately and not all of them deserve it. Unfortunately, I am afraid DJT’s derogatory comments about so many of his one time allies, associates and friends, will be what does him in.
There’s no way to win the Presidency with just base support, which he will surely get. Other Republicans and Independents, which any Republican nominee has to have, are completely turned off by his incessant name calling and childish comments.
They may not vote for Democrats but they won’t go out of their way to vote for DJT. DJT absolutely deserves vindication, but with the way he is going, he may never get the chance . . .
Then maybe try not saying “but DeSantis did [thing] during COVID” as a dig at him when your guy (Trump) objectively did a lot more questionable things in 2020 in regards to COVID? Just a thought!
