A top GOP donor who previously backed Donald Trump has announced that he will be supporting Ron DeSantis in the 2024 Election.
Hal Lambert, founder and CEO of Texas-based Point Bridge Capital, said he wants to "do a lot to help DeSantis win" amid strong speculation the Florida governor will confirm his presidential campaign in the coming days.
Lambert, who set up an exchange-traded fund named after the former president's Make America Great Again 2016 campaign slogan, MAGA ETF, and previously served on Trump's inaugural committee in 2016, told the New York Post that he decided to back DeSantis after meeting with him and wife in Florida three weeks ago.
Lambert said he was also put off by Trump's recent CNN town hall, where the former president continued to falsely claim the 2020 Election was "rigged."
"What voters who didn't vote for Trump in 2020 are going to vote for him this time based on his performance? I don't think anyone will," Lambert told The Post. "We can't talk about things from four years ago that can't be changed.
"Trump is going to have a difficult time winning the general election. The election won't be about Joe Biden's bad record. It will be a referendum on Trump instead."
It is reported that DeSantis will file paperwork declaring his presidential candidacy on May 25 to coincide with a donor meeting in Miami, before a formal announcement a few days later.

That's his approval now, not in 2020. He was more popular than unpopular until August 2021. Also, there were people who voted for him who just wanted Trump out and weren't that enthusiastic about him. Also, opinion polls include a lot of people who have no opinion. Those are the people who stay home on election day.
You know it, I know it, the whole world knows it, yet it is "accepted" that he lost the election, even by saints and election geniuses on this very board (spit)!
He did not lose the election, he was removed from the presidency by a coup plotted and carried out by enemies of this country.
And here we sit pondering who is going to be our nominee, this time, THIS time! sometimes actually getting heated about it.
One of Florida’s most prominent newspapers published a scathing article slamming Governor Ron DeSantis, a Republican, for promoting the “Big Lie” that the 2020 election was fraudulent

He signed an election bill. Newsweek thinks that he promoted the “Big Lie” by doing that.
The country is polarized into 40 % lefties and the rest want their country back. It does not matter of its 2020 or 2024.
And yes there was a steal. All you have to do is read the Navarro Report at the link I sent you.
Just as Trump was grifted in Arizona, so was Kari Lake.
Same in Georgia, Michigan and Pennsylvania.
What you and others do not understand is that if the cheat continnues, then it is a recipe for disorder and violence. America will not accept the ruination of the nation at the hands of an illegal, extortionist socialist minority.
So it really does no tmatter how many mega donors desert Trump and go for more control of the national agenda. Good riddance to them all.
THe TRump grass roots will outfund them all if necessary.
Yes - it would have been nice had that story been told as part of the campaign in 2020. Instead, Biden (or rather his campaign staff) ran rings around Trump, controlling the narrative the entire time, not to mention the media. No opposition on many networks - it was all Biden, all the time, being portrayed as strong man of accomplishment, integrity, vision, statesman, etc. Zero competing message for many millions of voters. Can't blame fraud or mail-in ballots on that.
Now he has the opportunity for a compare / contrast message. Will the opportunity be seized, or just let Biden's team have the steering wheel the whole campaign yet again? The base sat on their behinds and kept their wallets closed 2018, 2020, and 2022. This should not have been the case - how many millions are on the contact list that could have just chipped in a few bucks to give every candidate a war chest? The Dem base doesn't have a problem doing this, and our candidates were left twisting in the wind, entirely dependent on where McConnell decided to spend his SuperPAC money (and even that is not sufficient even if he went all in - outside PACs should only be a supplemental support, not the core support). Why should we have confidence the Trump team will do any better in 2024? This is a serious question as the track record is not exactly stellar.
He did support trump so there’s that.
The question really is why are stanch trump supporters leaving? Why did trump picks for his administration turn on him after working for him? Nobody seems to ponder that.
It cost me 20 bucks in gas and four hours time(total travel and rally) to get to Melbourne. Definitely worth it but let’s not go overboard on the expense and time.
No, President Trump didn't "party with the groomers at Mar-A-Lago".....here's the Epstein victims' lawyer telling the interviewer that Donald Trump was the one who gave him information which helped him prosecute Epstein. Trump turned the "groomer" in when he found out he was "grooming"............
