WASHINGTON, May 17 (Reuters) - Florida Republican Governor Ron DeSantis will officially enter the 2024 U.S. presidential race next week, according to two sources familiar with the decision, immediately becoming Donald Trump's biggest rival for the Republican nomination and shaking up a contest that largely has been one-sided.
DeSantis will likely file paperwork declaring his candidacy on May 25 to coincide with a donor meeting in Miami, with a more formal launch the week of May 29, according to a source.
The invitation for the May 25 event stated that donors would be put to “work,” an apparent allusion to raising money for DeSantis, according to a source familiar with the event.

The reality is Donald Trump is the one getting free airtime on CNN, glowing mainstream press articles about primary poll numbers, and has almost all the endorsements from GOP party leaders.

This IS the same damn thing with DeSantis, Trump fought hard to save his ass in the governors race, held TWO rallies for him literally begged his supporters to vote DeSantis!! DeSantis THEN GRABS onto the MAGA bandwagon in policies HOWEVER SURROUNDS HIMSELF with ALL of our GOPe enemies!!! DeSantis SHOULD HAVE stepped aside for this cycle governed FL. finished his term THEN run for POTUS in 2028! These GOPe consultants STILL do NOT understand the Trump base, DeSantis is making a HUGE mistake, these stinking consultants STILL DO NOT understand that if Trump is NOT on the ticket they will just STAY HOME!! There are MANY independents that DO NOT normally vote BUT WILL go to the polls for Trump, DeSantis is a BIG NOBODY to these voters along with the MAGA vote lost DeSantis CAN NOT win the general!! DeSantis will NEVER draw the % of Balck vote Trump does, will NEVER draw the % Hispanic vote Trump does, if they are depending on soccer moms it is NOT ENOUGH!! My vote is for America First. If Trump is eliminated then give me a candidate who isn’t funded by uni party. Give me a candidate who isn’t supported by RINOs like the Bushes or Paul Ryan, Mitch Mcconnell. Because a vote for a candidate supported by these uni party Rinos is a vote for Joe Biden, Barak Obama and Hillary Clinton. No thanks I’ve had enough. I’d rather not waste my vote on any more lesser of the two evils.
I live in FL and DeSantiss is a good Gov but I detest his backers, don’t trust his handlers and loathe Where his big money is coming from. The uni party owns him and like Fox News, its becoming apparent he’s just controlled opposition.
