An intruder reportedly walked into the Washington home of President Joe Biden‘s national security adviser, Jake Sullivan, bypassing his “around-the-clock” Secret Service detail one night in late April.
In the incident that is now under Secret Service investigation, an unidentified man appeared to be intoxicated and confused when Sullivan confronted him at around 3 a.m., government officials briefed on the matter told The Washington Post.
Agents stationed outside only learned of what happened when the intruder had disappeared and Sullivan exited the home to tell them what had happened, the sources said.
The report, published on Tuesday, said there were no signs of forced entry and no evidence that the intruder knew or meant to harm Sullivan. The report also noted that the Secret Service said it had begun an investigation into the intrusion and implemented more security layers around the home while the inquiry takes place.
“While the protectee was unharmed, we are taking this matter seriously and have opened a comprehensive mission assurance investigation to review all facets of what occurred,” Secret Service spokesman Anthony Guglielmi said in a statement. “Any deviation from our protective protocols is unacceptable and if discovered, personnel will be held accountable.”
National security advisers began to receive full-time Secret Service protective details after the FBI uncovered an alleged 2021 Iranian plot to kill former national security adviser John Bolton, sources told the news outlet. An Iranian national was charged in connection to that fiasco in 2022.
Sullivan has served as national security adviser since the beginning of Biden’s presidency. Before that, he served roles in the Obama administration and later became an adviser to Hillary Clinton’s 2016 campaign.
The report said Sullivan lives with his wife, Margaret Goodlander, who works in the Justice Department.
Though The Washington Post noted that the White House declined to comment, it did report that the incident “sparked alarm” among a small group of White House and national security officials.
“The real big alarm bell is the Secret Service was not aware that a person basically walked right into his house in the middle of the night,” Washington Post reporter Carol Leonnig said during an appearance on MSNBC.
Fire the secret service agents involved immediately. This is inexcusable.
A message to all high level whistle-blowers.
That’s why Trump is guarded by a bunch of operators. 😆
I think Sullivan is in personal trouble.
USSS never saw the intruder coming or going. In fact, Sullivan is the only witness. And where was Sullivan’s family?
Entered through an unlocked door.
Yet Sullivan was awake.
No cameras (or else the intruder would have been arrested by now).
To me, this all seems unlikely. I doubt there was an intruder. Sullivan might have claimed such to explain the presence of a guest he had let in earlier. Who knows. Except as it stands, this story does not add up.

Maybe it’s another Paul Pelousy thing.......
” this story does not add up.”
Agree
Did the Secret Service think they were posted at the home of SCOTUS Justice Kavanaugh?
Because that would actually be believable vs. this silly story.
You can certainly understand why any Biden advisor might be in mortal fear of one who may come like a thief in the night....
Secret Service probably figured it was just another hired sex worker from the local Molly House.
But nothing about the pictures that were taken of Donald Trump Jr.’s children in the middle of the night while they were sleeping?
RE: Like the wet backs being walked in to the nation by this administration?
Going on for a long time. Haven’t heard that term in a while. Does apply, though if they crossed the Rio Grande.

Who cares? I am finding it hard to care how well Sullivan is protected.
He is dealing with danger? Crime?
Welcome to the party pal.
This comes along with another mystery:

Yeah i don’t believe the story.
Drunk guy isn’t going to get by security detail TWICE and they don’t find him anywhere around afterwards.
Wow they aren’t even trying to come up with good lies anymore.
Did he have automatic weapons, have thirty others with him,
and work for the government?
Get back to me...
That was a good movie. Well envisioned and directed.
Late actor Jack Soo was part of the cast.
He later on played Detective Nick Yemana on TV show
Barney Miller.
I saw his photo and I knew I recognized him from somewhere.
Barney Miller was always good for a laugh.
If I recall, all the episodes seemed to take place within that precinct office. That was the set design.
Did he have a hammer? Probably looking for Pelosi.
