Should also be mentioned that Russian indigenous chip fab (i.e., no external supplies or aid) had reached 65nm by early 2020. If they engage in espionage in Taiwan with wartime priority efforts and funding, I wouldn’t be surprised if they suddenly get 14nm or less.

Russia’s two important semiconductor companies, Mikron and Angstrem, are located in Zelenograd. Angstrem was last reported in bankruptcy and there are also legal claims against former directors of its Angstrem-T division concerning “missing” equipment.
Mikron, the last great semiconductor hope for Russia, is working to develop technology that is already more than 2o years old, perhaps as out of date as 30 years. But the company is promising, not delivering.
Russia’s indigenous deficiencies in advanced electronics certainly does mean that it is suffering huge losses in equipment and manpower.
Russia’s high-tech industry is mostly focused on military requirements. That is far different from the US, China, South Korea, Japan, Taiwan or European producers, all of which have strong commercial sectors.
Mikron reportedly got their 65nm fab up and running in 2020 and was delivering product from it in late 2020 from what I’d read.
There is also the Elbrus-8S series of 28nm processors out of Moscow’s MCST, but I’m not at all sure where that’s actually fabricated - there were some joint ventures between MCST/Mikron (not to be confused with the American-based Micron company) and TSMC on fabrication. (The 8S was based on TSMC 28nm technology under license.) There was news that Mikron moved *some* contract fabrication they had TSMC doing for them to a fab in Zelenogorsk after the Ukraine War broke out, but I don’t recall any specifics being given.

Patriot missiles cost over 5 million dollars each.
So we are looking at a destruction and depletion of about 110 -150 million dollars of America's irreplaceable missile inventory in one night

The Russian “hypersonic” missile being used is little more than a very fast, short range rocket which is pretty crude for a hypersonic missile tech.

Those things getting shredded is why the US Army stopped waiting for the vaporware Raytheon QuickKill APS for the Abrams and hastily bought Israeli Trophy APS systems. Many of the other NATO nations suddenly also decided that those Russian missiles they’d pooh-poohed were something to take seriously and began investing in APS as well.

Yup, but more ‘Tigers’ were reported (and reported knocked out) by Allied troops in Normandy than the entire actual wartime production run. They simply identified every tank they came across as the Tiger boogeyman - and again, after the dust settled, a lot of those ‘Tigers’ knocked out turned out to be Panzer IIIs and IVs.
Initial reports from combat actions tend to be a bit less than accurate.
This article reports that 18 missiles were shot down and that 6 were hypersonic. Not all like you are comparing to.
I remember the Drive-By Media talking about the ‘battle-hardened’ Iraq Republican Guard. Between them, and the state-of-the-art Russian military equipment, the United States would be defeated. Later, when President Trump warned the Russians in Syria that we were going to attack, more media lauded the Russians. Too bad the regular Russian people have had such idiots in charge for so long.
From what I have seen from the parts of the missile, they are very simple, use very inexpensive materials and cannot be very expensive to build.
I would doubt they cost anywhere near 10 million dollars.
I doubt that we can replace Patriot missiles for 10 million a pop in 2023 dollars.
I doubt that we can afford replace them even at 10 million bucks. We cannot even afford to properly repair our Navy.
Little in Ukraine is worth 100 million a night in defense costs - except the Western weapons sent to defend the country.
The point is that the identification of “Tiger” or “hypersonic missile” or whatever else is flat out suspect for the same reasons - the boogeyman of the day is what gets reported as being vanquished.
The Russian gear in both cases was export grade - i.e., dumbed down, reduced capability gear that would fare poorly if turned against its manufacturer. For example, none of the Republican Guard armor had the long-existing Russian APS as those were never provided in export models.
We do the same thing - until recently, we would export M1 Abrams tanks, but we did not sell them with the same electronics package and we definitely did not sell them with the depleted uranium composite armor. Again - export models are deliberately crippled by pretty much everyone.
But your point insisted all gets reported as the boogeyman when right in this article that is not the case. Add to that information gathering in WW2 was primitive compared to what they have today. I think you can stop spamming me now unless you have information that actually fits.
-sigh- And you continue to miss the point, probably deliberately. The point is that ALL frontline reporting is of questionable accuracy until it can be confirmed. This is historically borne out over the last few centuries.
Simple? Kinjal is 9.500 lb missile, which has to be air launched by either the Mig-31 or TU22 bomber. Cost of Patriot missile is 3 million.
