Guess who stood for the national anthem? Starting in 2020, WNBA start Brittney Griner said she and her teammates would protest the national anthem. Previously, "During a game between the Phoenix Mercury and the Los Angeles Sparks, the two teams walked off the court while the National Anthem played. Interestingly enough, Griner mentioned that this will not be the last time she would walk off the court."
But 10-months in a Russian prison later, and the Biden administration swapped her for a notorious international arms trafficker, the "Merchant of Death" Viktor Bout last December...
Griner (red jacket) and Bout pass each other on UAE airport tarmac.
Fast-forward to her return to freedom in the United States and her first competitive game since her release, in a preseason Phoenix Mercury against the Los Angeles Sparks game, which took place Friday...
What a difference facing down a 9-year prison sentence in Russia makes:
Prior to the tip, Griner and her teammates stood for the national anthem, and the No. 1 pick of the 2013 WNBA Draft received a loud ovation from the home crowd as she was introduced.
"Hearing the national anthem, it definitely hit different," Griner said. "It’s like when you go for the Olympics, you’re sitting there, about to get gold put on your neck, the flags are going up, and the anthem is playing, it just hits different.
"Being here today ... it means a lot."
Mercury coach Vanessa Nygaard had this to say about Griner's return to the court: "We looked at each other, and we just had chills."
And further: "We were here last year for all of it. I’m getting emotional about it now. Just to see her back out there — it’s an absolute miracle. It was amazing. It’s giving me chills again."
Apparently Griner "loves" the national anthem now... but no more fight for social justice? We guess not.
Thank you.
“”anybody that’s spent any time at all in a crappy country knows better,””
I often state that we almost live in heaven compared to much of the world, and especially compared to not very long ago, when there was no electricity, plumbing, etc. The poor in the U.S.A live like royalty did not very long ago. We are so comfortable, we have to go to the gym to work out. Almost everywhere we go in America there are the basics of water, power, plumbing. The Soviet Union used to have Potemkin Villages, just one or two modern towns to show the world that communism works. Any foreign visitors were only allowed to visit these ‘examples of the revolution.’ When Soviets would visit America, the first suburb they would see reminded them of their own Potemkins, and they thought we were doing the same. After a few more plane trips around the country, they knew that those grand suburbs were the norm, not the exception.
Thanks to Rush, we have 24/7 hot water with a tankless water heater. We still go out to stores, and have some items delivered right to our door. If a certain store is out of something, we can usually just order it delivered.
The leftist creepozoids cannot stand all this freedom and prosperity available to so many, not just their chosen few. They are at war with energy and freedom. With inexpensive energy comes more and more choices. Factories and businesses don’t go where there is not plenty of energy. The internal combustion engine, combined with inexpensive fuel, empowers everyone. Even without your own car, you can travel the country. The leftists would love to install the Soviet Union’s internal passport system. In the good ‘ol USSR, one needed papers to travel outside your own small, county area. Bus, train, bicycle or walking, you had to present your papers. The dirty BIG secret is that they did not issue the papers to over 80% of the populace. The USA leftist drool over installing such a system here.
Back in the day they did the same in England, placing the prisoner in a cage in the court room. The law back then (like in Mexico today) was you were guilty until proven innocent.
She’s still a C...
C to shining C...
The Constitution, the American Flag, and the National Anthem all are about social justice, Ms. Griener.

She’s an attention seeking drama queen-but-her DNA says she is and always was a female-she was born with a pituitary gland disorder that causes excessive growth, chronic joint pain, messes up development and can shorten life. She has been treated, but some things can’t be reversed/changed. She is just a garden variety lesbian, never mind all the hype...
Who? And should I be excited that an anti American stood?
Why do people feel the need to put hyphens in their number descriptions? 10-months? There is no hyphen in there. You don’t say I have 2-children and 3-dogs. 10 months.
I have had arguments with freepers over Griner’s gender.
