DeSantis: GOP 'Must Reject the Culture of Losing,' No More 'Excuses'
News Max ^ | 5/14/2023 | Eric Mack

While echoing the policies and positions of former President Donald Trump, Florida GOP Gov. Ron DeSantis took some veiled shots the runaway GOP primary polling leader – blasting Republicans as having been losers.

"We must reject the culture of losing that has infected our party in recent years. The time for excuses is over. We've got to demonstrate the courage to lead and the strength to win."

"If we make the 2024 election a referendum on Joe Biden and his failures, and if we provide a positive alternative for the future of this country, Republicans will win across the board," DeSantis said. "If we do not do that, if we get distracted, if we focus the election on the past or on other side issues, then I think the Democrats are going to beat us again, and I think it will be very difficult to recover from that defeat."

Yup, ol’ pudding fingers DeSantis is more appealing to the Lincoln Project Republicans, but has next to zero shot at winning the primary. He’s really going to poach off enough Trump supporters?
I don’t think so

Get over the “mean tweets” moronic attitude. I don’t care if he writes his name on the wall in feces, he got the job done even with all the demon opposition and the rino self-propelled speed bumps.
Saving this country isn’t going to happen with niceties, it’s going to happen with someone who is willing to roll around in the mud and get dirty. (I would’ve said crap, but I limit myself to one crap reference per post).

Talk about that sinking feeling, Trump has already fed Meatball Ron into the garbage disposal in FLORIDA! DeSanctimonious can't even win his home state!

“DeSantis has a broader appeal, a great record, and has repeatedly demonstrated courage and creativity.” I

LoL. Is that why he is an almost a 30 point underdog in his own state?

This guy has the weirdest non declared presidential campaign ever going against Trump LOSING by 30 points. He has mouthpieces hinting to people that he’ll overcome those 30 points by declaring

My wife could tell you in 2007 when Obama was down by 30+ to Mrs. Clinton, that I saw him speak, and declared that he was going to beat her. At this stage, a 30 point deficit is not a big deal.

DeSantis is not as skilled a campaigner as Obama, and Trump is CERTAINLY no Mrs. Clinton, expecting everything to be handed to him. If he MUST run, he would be best off running a positive campaign based on his accomplishments, ignore Trump's attacks, and align himself for 2028 after a distant 2nd place finish. Stay away from the poobahs who promise the nomination. They cannot deliver and they can poison future runs. Let them back Nikki Hailey or Hutchinson or whomever instead.

Trump made this country great once and he will make it great again.

Trump did not make America great. He improved some things, slowed the decline elsewhere, and really allowed things to tank still elsewhere.

Trump failed to stop the 2020 rioting, though he tried a few times. And he failed to stop the steal. Made no strong effort to stop ballot harvesting.

Trump put Kushner in charge of his reelection. But rather than focus like a laser on the looming election fraud, Kushner spent his time on his Abraham Accords. Good for Israel (maybe), but he should have delayed that until after the election.

We know a lot of irregular, illegal things went on with the 2020 election. But focusing on what most voters are concerned about and how Biden made things worse and proposing alternatives is most likely to win. If we win, then we can start to fix things. It is not conceding the trickery of 2020 to talk about the future and a path forward. We cannot go back and fix the past. We can fix the system but only if we win.

I genuinely want to like DeSantis but people need to ask questions about who is pushing him to futilely run against Trump. Trump can be his own worst enemy, but most of his “negatives” were painted by the globalist elites, leftist media, and GOPe and there are many (even here on FR) that fail to separate his legitimate flaws (like all of us) from the propaganda nor do they weigh his negatives against his record.

Ron DeSantis is the choice of Paul Ryan, the Bushies, and the National Review neocons. I don’t blame Ron for taking the money (he is not Trump) and I can cheer when he punches Woke Disney in the face, but my short-lived applause will mean nothing when one of my children (prime war fighting age) is killed or wrecked in some new misadventure abroad brought to you by the globalist neocon world police crowd who have CLEARLY decided that Ron is their man.

The people endorsing DeSantis scare me and they are the biggest poison in the GOP. People need to step back and ask some hard questions.

His political future is going to depend on this decision and those advising him are not being truthful with him. Ron will NEVER win the Oval office if he alienates the MAGA base regardless of how many GOP elites endorse him and National Review clearly views Ron as their best chance to wreck Trump.

Trump may well lose the 2024 race, but in two years either way we will be on here discussing about how badly Ron played the last few months and the ones to come. If he embraces the National Review Chamber of Commerce Neocon support he is NOT the man we thought he was.

That is my .02 and flame away

They engineered an election to get rid of Trump. I now pay about 1000 bucks more a month in my household budget because of it. We closer to war around the world and our nation is looking worse by the week. I have lost 1/3 of my retirement savings and I am eligible to retire.

Given the big picture I would rather have the brash and nasty guy from Queens in office.

We need a “wartime President” if we are to survive. Trump reminds me of Patton in many respects. He is the “nasty bastard” (Patton’s description of himself) you want leading the attack even if he offends the peacetime generals who thrived in the bureaucracy.

With all due respect, Paul Ryan and his ilk are a CANCER and I will NEVER vote for them or their minions and I hope and pray that DeSantis keeps them at arms length. We are watching.

Well, too bad desantis, when asked about running for president, has said

I'm not a candidate

But of course, desantis has been lying about his intent to run for president, and continues to do so.

Yet desantis supporters sees desantis, who deliberately lies about things, plays games and jerks people around with ambiguous answers, as the best person to be president?

This is the positive alternative for the future?

Bullspit.
DeSantis would be something other than Florida’s governor if it wasn’t for Trump. And DeSantis’ showing out on the road underwhelmed, to say the least. He is dropping support from his big-money donors rather than gaining.
DeSantis needs more time to figure out if he is capable of governing without the globalist’s money to prop him up.
Until then, we hired Trump and Trump is still our guy.
Until we fire him.

“DeSantis has a broader appeal, a great record, and has repeatedly demonstrated courage and creativity.”

Courage? Then why seal his travel records?

“Sending illegal aliens to Martha’s Vineyard..”

Just once. Wow. That really solved the problem.

“...standing up for kids safety...”

If the kid can exist beyond the six weeks abortion window.

“He is worldly, well-read, well-spoken...”

That describes most of the globalist MAGA-haters.

“...and does not have baggage (porn star payments and etc) that the left would use, over and over and over in spot ads.”

Baggage??? Trump won two elections with the supposed “baggage.”

Bone spurs?

Which war did DeSantis fight in???

“Apparently DeSantis doesn’t believe there was The Steal in 2020.”

I have yet to see a well-written and comprehensive analysis of how the 2020 election was “stolen”. What I have gathered is that in 2020 was that the Democrats used the Covid emergency to pass legislation allowing large-scale, mail-in voting in swing states. Then the Democrat operatives went out and made sure all the registered Democrats voted by mail. Once again the Republicans were out-maneuvered and defeated, legally. If the election was stolen, the remedy is to use the court system to invalidate the stolen voted, but that did not happen. Trump and folk like you do nobody any favors by baseless assertions of a “stolen election”. If you think the election was “stolen” please back up your opinions with some facts.

We know a lot of irregular, illegal things went on with the 2020 election.

Yes we do about about the fraud. But DeSantis apparently doesn't. He has never acknowledged it.

But focusing on what most voters are concerned about and how Biden made things worse and proposing alternatives is most likely to win.

You're most likely to win when you focus on all the issues, and that includes recognizing the Democrat election fraud.

If we win, then we can start to fix things.

You can't win if you don't at the very least recognize that election fraud is a big problem.

A bank robber robs a bank. If you ignore the bank robbery, the bank robber will rob the bank again.

Even though he's up by as many as six and seven points in the polls, he can't win? You're nuts.

TRUMP DID WIN IN 2020 -- in a landslide. Anyone denying voter fraud and legalized voter fraud like ballot harvesting cost him the election in 2020 is part of the problem and not to be taken seriously.

No sane person believes Trump got 12 million more votes, won 18 of 19 bellwether countries that had voted with the winner since 1980 and that Republicans gained 15 seats in the House and that he legitimately lost.

We are losing our country to communist tactics.

For the most part, the GOP is in bed with the DNC. Otherwise, the stolen election(s) would not stand and the political prisoners from J6 would not be in jail with no trial date.

"We must reject the culture of losing that has infected our party in recent years. The time for excuses is over. We've got to demonstrate the courage to lead and the strength to win."

You can have all the courage and strength you want, but as long as there are cheat-by-mail-in ballots with no chain of custody or signature verification, Democrats will continue to 'win.'
