Lachlan Murdoch Explains Settlement, Says No Change at Fox

Fox News paid $787 million to settle a recent lawsuit on its reporting after the 2020 election to avoid a divisive trial and lengthy appeals process, its parent company’s chief executive said on Tuesday.

Lachlan Murdoch, executive chairman and CEO of Fox Corp., also noted that a Delaware judge “severely limited” Fox’s defenses against Dominion Voting Systems, which said the network defamed it by airing bogus charges of election fraud that it knew was untrue.

Fox Corp. announced Tuesday that it had lost $50 million the previous three months, which it attributed to the lawsuit settlement. Murdoch, who answered questions from financial analysts, was speaking in public for the first time since the case ended and Fox fired its most popular anchor, Tucker Carlson.

Are they gonna prohibit Joe being questioned about Hunter’s Laptop and the $1 Billion he paid Ukraine to fire a Prosecutor - Again in the 24 Presidential Debates?

The Election before that they wouldn’t run Trump Border Wall Ads.

Fox is a bunch of City Liberals masquerading for money.

Yet Fox has gained more than 40 new advertisers in that hour, the network said, confirming a report in Variety. Advertisers like Gillette, Scott’s Miracle Gro and Secret deodorant that had considered Carlson’s show a toxic environment have signed on.

Useful info, is it not, for those of us wanting choices when we shop for shaving supplies, fertilizer and deodorant?

The advertising will be pulled again when ratings stay low. Or the rates charged will drop.

Scott's Miracle Gro with its ammonium phosphate is complaining about a toxic environment?

I have a hunch this is a deal more than a settlement. The 787 million to Dominion is designed to convince the low-info that Fox must have been terribly wrong in its coverage, making Dominion seem like the terribly wronged company.

The Fox coverage was probably right-on-the-money, but the deal gives Dominion adequate cover to continue its vigorous efforts for the Democrat party, while they slide a little of the "settlement" back to Fox under the table.

Everybody's happy. Except the vast American electorate. But who cares about them, anyway?

Where is any brave Fox News conservative? You would think someone, anyone would quit in solidarity w Tucker.
But NOooooooo!
For all the “conservatism on Fox, you’d think they’d circle the wagons around Tucker, and leave em mass if he was fired. But, Nooooo! Dry disappointing actually. Hannity, Ingram, Watters, Levin, the Judge, not a peep outta one of em about leaving w Carlsons departure.
I guess they need the $$$$!!! /s

Why do news networks and social media firms hire former politicians and political appointments as journalists reporting news? They are no such thing, and it's quite obvious. They call them "network news contributors".

The practice is unethical and insulting to the tenants of journalism and news reporting. How do we get the psy-ops tactic to stop?

Excellent point. I too greatly hoped Waters would hike and run, and Kayleigh Mackeniny (sp) Trump’s press secretary.

Nope. Kayleigh is reportedly taking Tucker’$ hour.

Tucker is moving his show to Twitter, and Elon Musk.

I’m told that FNC and DOMINION are both owned by NEWSCORP, so the $787 Large only gets shifted from one pocket to another pocket in the same pair of trousers. We were definitely being played with THAT charade. To my mind it was a mock trial with FNC scripted to lose, to put the thought in all our minds that 2020 was legit. It wasn’t legit. It was crooked as BLEEP! The election was stolen.

Advertisers like Gillette, Scott’s Miracle Gro and Secret deodorant that had considered Carlson’s show a toxic environment have signed on.

If true.. those advertisers signed up because they were offered VERY LOW ad costs.

Without substantial audience numbers they'll be selling commercials at 30 to 50% of their original rates.. maybe even lower.

Fox's PROBLEM.. They DESTROYED their VIEWER BASE when the "Dixied" Tacker Carlson's A$$ out the door.

Commercial rates are based on cost per thousand viewers... in order to make up lost revenue they'll sell spots at a LOW COST and have to run two to three times as many commercial breaks in order to try to make up their monetary losses.

Dumping Carlson is how they SCREWED THEMSELVES. Fox gave ITSELF the proverbial "GREEN WEENY" and it's going to cost them dearly.

Murdoch's statement was nothing more than an attempt at "saving face" business-wise.
