At 78 years old, and having not even owned a TV since 1977, this article really rings true. Especially his mention of "a reality distortion field". I see it every day.

I see people divorced from reality every time I venture into the more densely populated areas. There may be something to Jefferson’s call for an agrarian society.

They are very effective at getting people to hate each other over superfluous things that people have no need to hate each other over.
They’ve weaponized it like the Serpent of old…too busy hating someone else to hate the real author of your troubles (in this case, the government that steals from you daily to enrich and empower itself).
It’s been there in human nature since Cain murdered Abel. Maybe even a tad earlier. The Serpent’s ways…
