A series of earthquakes measuring over four in magnitude rattled Southern California’s Imperial Valley early Sunday morning , sending shockwaves that could be felt for many miles.
A 4.5 magnitude quake struck at 12:09 a.m and was centered approximately 4 miles west-southwest of Niland and just east of the Salton Sea, according to the U.S. Geological Survey. It had a depth of just over 4 miles and was followed by several other quakes of roughly the same magnitude.

This guy (quakeprediction.com) thinks there will be a 98% chance of a magnitude 6.0 quake in the San Francisco Bay Area on May 1 or 2.

Just fall into the ocean already. That would make my drive to the beach from AZ every summer so much shorter. 🤣
“centered approximately 4 miles west-southwest of Niland”
Causing great consternation among Niland’s population of desert reptiles.
Well we will find that out right away.
Is it too soon to name a town Otisburg?
Swarm rattles. This is why journalists are liberals. They can’t learn anything.
With that level of certainty I would bet against it.
Hot brine is taken from the field and maintained at high pressure until being flashed to steam that is used to power turbines that turn electric generators. The spent steam steam is condensed back to water then injected back into the hot zone.
Mother Nature provides the BTUs of energy. The equipment to convert the BTUs into electricity pretty is expensive because of the combination of high temperature plus corrosive brine and steam necessitates expensive metallurgies. Large doses of expensive scale and corrosion inhibiting chemical additives are used to keep everything from plugging up and corroding.
Nobody noticed the quakes happens a lot. That part of the San andres fault is active.
Otisburg?
Does this mean Donald Fagen will go back to Annandale after all?
Made me think of Lex Luthor’s map in Superman.
Pollywog, Did this affect you?
Hmmm, could this mean a big one is coming?
There it is!
Hopefully the Ski Inn in Bombay Beach is ok
USGS map for the last 24 hours.
