The Florida House passed a bill on Friday with a 76-34 vote that would permit the state leader to run for the presidency without stepping down from their current position.
The bill’s approval comes only a few days after it was passed in the state Senate by a vote of 28 to 12. The bill is now on its way to Governor Ron DeSantis’ desk for approval.
The timing of the bill’s approval and Governor DeSantis’ potential presidential announcement adds to the uniqueness of the situation.

Because RDS if he had any integrity at all should be trying to right any wrongs- support Trump if its sham lawsuits- not prep to replace trump in pres race. RDS is not friend to anyone but those he sold his soul to.
Trump has never quit...he’s a fighter. The omly kne in the GOP who is. The rest are milktoast.. except for 2.
Thats the problem.. no will to win on the gop side.
How does “legal” weigh out against integrity and RDS lack of it lately in his denying running while planning to do so. Liar manipulator is all he is. Puppet of gope and fools likely going to hell from the looks of it. Hope more peoplewake up soon before its toolate.
Can we agree that if Trump wins the nomination and loses in 2024 that all these cultists leave FR forever?
The same lie is being repeated again and again by people who have never read the actual wording of the law.
Read section 4.
The law never said DeSantis couldn’t run while still governor. It says he can’t occupy two elected positions simultaneously, so he would be required to resign no later than inauguration day in 2025, assuming he won the presidential election.
The real question is what would happen if he runs but doesn’t get the nomination or doesn’t win the general election. The law is vague on this point, and needed to be clarified.
But instead of doing that, they are making it look like the new version of the law has been crafted specifically to help one individual advance his personal quest for power.
Very bad optics.
“I really wish he would wait until 28.”
Agree. Technically, I don’t have a problem with a current governor running for POTUS if his term is ending. But practically he can’t possibly be giving his state’s citizens 100%. That seems wrong.
And then there’s the ethical issue of making a promise to his citizens to remain gov and then going back on it.
He just needs to wait.
“So you’re OK with Biden being in office four more years? You don’t seriously think Trump has a chance in 2024, do you? It’s DeSantis. Now.”
You must be delusional and think voters’ choice is a thing. Neither PDJT nor RD will “win”. If not Biden, it will be another RAT; the cheaters will be successful again and forever.
All the barking amped up kids will now pontificate about how bad they think this is. Of course, none have ever run for office and realize that to run in 2028, a campaign must be started now to build a war chest of money and contacts. Everyone knows someone entering in 2024 is not going to usually win, that the campaign is ramping up for a future run.
Level of fraud in ‘24 is going to be no where near ‘20 super high levels. No riots, no COVID scare. Just a bad economy, a brain dead Biden and $5.00/gal gas. TRUMP IN A LANDSLIDE VICTORY!!!
If Trump wins will all the anti vaxxer obsessed kooks leave FR?
Trump actually officially ran multiple times in 2000, 2016, 2020, and 2024; he also “unofficially” campaigned in 2012, and claimed he was going to run in 2004.
I guess, just dabbling at best. When he descended from the Golden Elevator we knew he meant business.
Plus DeSantis is losing donors. Doesn’t help.
“It’s a sad day at Mar-a-Lago.”
Not actually what this tells me is that DeSantis has no faith that he can win. He is a coward still his feet in the water to test it. Who wants a President that doesn’t commit his all? Who supposedly wants to save America as long as he does not risk his job?
This is coming from someone who truly appreciates the job he has done in Florida. I prefer he goes all in and fights Trump on the battlefield of ideas on how to save this country. If he beats Trump, he gets my vote.
“ But how come Donald Clinton Trump never has to face accountability? ”
Trump never held elected office before becoming president. If anything, once elected, Trump was loyal to the American people based on his policies.
No clue why Clinton was brought into the conversation.
“You don’t seriously think Trump has a chance in 2024, do you?”
Trump beat Biden by a landslide once, he can do it again. What will determine the winner is whether we allow the Establishment to steal another election from DeSantis or Trump.
It is a fact that millions of votes were not signature checked.
It is a fact that Drop boxes had no video monitoring or were blocked.
It is a fact 100s of thousands of votes did not have proper chain of custody.
It is a fact ballot adjudication was done outside of two parties and not properly supervised.
It is a fact millions of ballots were mailed out illegally.
It is a fact a lot of elderly care homes had 100% participation.
It is a fact that several precincts’ military voted 80% Biden (never happened in history). Military votes Republicans.
It is a fact they covered up windows at counting centers so the public could not witness the vote counting.
It is a fact they used COVID to keep Republican election watchers ten feet away during counts in heavily Democrat areas.
It is a fact that Dropbox videos were illegally deleted in several states.
It is not a fact that Biden outperformed every living president in history by 20,000,000 votes. The clown could not draw a crowd of 50 and insulted blacks weekly.
To get away with it all you need is a corrupted media and political establishment that won’t tolerate dissent so they can keep the power away from the people. Election fraud has a long history outside of Trump.
"uniqueness" aka how politics works. Take money from rich people, pay off fellow politicians and they do what you want.
Gotta love the whole $20 million from the repub party of FL and $80 million to the repub party of FL. They made a good investment I'd say. LOL
Very well said.
👍🏻👍🏻
