Republican Mega-Donor John Catsimatidis Withdraws DeSantis Support
Breitbart ^ | 27 Apr 2023 | HANNAH BLEAU

Another Republican mega-donor has publicly stated he will not support Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis should he choose to run for president in 2024.

John Catsimatidis, CEO of Gristedes, knocked DeSantis’s communication skills, telling the Washington Examiner that DeSantis does not even return his phone calls.

“Why would I support somebody to become president of the United States that doesn’t return phone calls?” he asked.

“Why do people contribute to people?” he asked. “They want to have access and to be able to have a discussion.”

He added that he has “never in 30 years of doing politics asked anybody for anything or a personal favor. Never.”

According to the Examiner, Catsimatidis in 2018 donated $15,000 to the DeSantis state campaign but gave even more, $600,000, to the Trump Victory fund the year after and into 2020.

Catsimatidis is hardly the only GOP mega donor voicing concerns about backing DeSantis, as many are reportedly having second thoughts about supporting him, should he run.

However, for Catsimatidis, the issue is very much rooted in the lack of communication.

“Everybody answers my phone calls. I’ve never had a situation like [this],” he said, adding that he does not want to give more funds to “somebody that doesn’t return phone calls,” even if he is a good governor.

“I would rule out supporting him at this point,” Catsimatidis said, according to the Examiner. “If you’re putting it in the same context of Donald Trump vs. Ron DeSantis, I would pick Donald Trump in a second.”

[As I pointed out in an earlier post, DeSantis and many of his supporters think that Biden really did get 81 million votes.

Most of us Trump supporters think that is wrong and can give you a long list of the reasons why. ]

And none of those reasons were sufficient to prevent Fox from handing $800m over to Dominion. You can believe what you want, but the Murdochs did not settle because they had an ironclad case. They did it because they feared even bigger damages if the case went to trial.

I don’t really care that Trump lied - it’s who he is, and who he’s been since I started following his career in the 70’s. He’s a scumbag, but he’s our scumbag. I prefer DeSantis because I think Trump is too hated and beyond learning from his mistakes. That’s fatal in a presidential election, where some of the greatest political talents in the country are working methodically for the other side. We need someone who is quick on his feet, learns from his mistakes and listens to sound political advice. That’s not Trump.

If Trump is the nominee, I’ll gladly vote for him. Because - what’s the alternative? But I hope it’s someone else, because Trump is, IMHO, almost certain to lose, and possibly hand majorities in both houses to the Democrats.

Because none of those reasons had anything to do with the Fox lawsuit.

A point that confuses many DeSantis supporters.

They are not fascists.

They are bolsheviks.

So lemme get this straight-

DeSantis doesn’t kiss some rich donor ass? Doesn’t give him access? And I’m supposed to be bothered by this?

Yes.

Also seems to be following the trajectory of Gov. Scott Walker.

Catsimatidis was a big Bill Clinton donor. Since when does this guy get the right to be labelled a Republican?

They all give to everyone, except for the party faithful and the principled diehards. The ones with lots of money give to everyone.

If he can help Trump, I am grateful and would not single him out as having been generous to others.

I read contradictory reports on the polls in the NY Post daily. Seems like there is a bit of division there, as well as among the pollsters themselves.

I guess it would be a problem for you if you allow corporations to control your life. Unlike a potential candidate supported by anti-American globalists out to really destroy your life.
While at the same time you most likely use GOOGLE who actually does control your life.

If Disney is doing something illegal, arrest them. If you don't like Bud Light advertising don't buy it...It will all take care of itself.

However if you have proof that Disney and Bud are donating to Trump and influencing his decisions, post the link(s)
