White House punts on why Biden won’t meet McCarthy on debt limit

The White House on Tuesday punted a question on why President Biden won’t set up another meeting with Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) over raising the nation’s debt ceiling instead blaming Republicans for the stalemate.

“It’s the Speaker, McCarthy, and the MAGA wing of the Republican party that is doing this, we’re not doing this. They’re the ones who are saying they want to hold the American economy hostage,” press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre said when asked if the president risks rattling financial markets if he doesn’t meet with the Speaker.

Biden is “saying to House Republicans, you need to do your job, your constitutional duty, and avoid default,” she added.

McCarthy has bashed the president for not inviting him back for a meeting about the debt limit since they last met on Feb. 1. Democrats and Republicans have been in a standstill as a looming deadline approaches to raise the debt ceiling. If the U.S. fails to raise the debt ceiling, the country could risk default by June.

Lock her up, fire all the employees, and let’s start over.

I don’t see a problem here, McCarthy should just get his bill passed and then adjourn the House and tell Biden the ball is in his court now.

Translation: Obama and his merry band of America-hating Progressives (aka, Marxists) WANT US to default and blame Republicans. Why not? Or numbskull MSM will go along and blame Republicans too. Joy Reid, The Spew, idiot late night hosts, etc.

They need to start passing budgets that cut the debt. Would Biden sign such budget? Of course not.

congress has the power to balance the budget... do it.

pass the laws that will balance the budget and start with cutting the funding of every democrat staffer.

If I recall correctly , previous government shutdowns over debt ceiling debates have always been blamed on Republicans.

The facts don’t matter. Media and late night comedians will blame it on Republicans no matter what. Republicans will be said to be taking food out of the mouths of babes and throwing granny off the cliff.

I know it sounds absurd but this is how it’s happened in the past. How does our side get past the media filter and set the record straight? I don’t have an answer to that but it is tough to be on the conservative side , because conservatives have to fight both Democrats and the media.

This is all kabuki theater. No one is going to default on anything.

The Democrats will get their pet projects funded.
The Republicans will get their pet projects funded.

And so the can will be kicked down the road, yet again.
And our grandchildren? Too bad for them. They will inherit an unmanageable debt.

It’s not about solving problems. It’s about scoring political points.

Someone should pack that Haitian golliwog back to Haiti on the next banana boat or garbage scow.

One cringes at the thought of such a meeting. A stuffed dummy being deferentially addressed as “Mr. President.” When in history has there been such a thing? I can think of one daft and dangerous Roman Emperor who fit the description.

And that is the answer. Biden and Democrats could have easily raised the limit when Pelosi was speaker but they didn’t want to. They want this fight. More political charades.

Is it time for the “Trillion dollar coin” discussion yet? Or do we need to wait a week or so?

They delay because the game is and always was to pitch scare tactics, call names, and cast blame on anything other than unlimited spending forever.

Why meet as if to work out a “deal?”

Everyone should be reminded that when dealing with Democrats over anything that they will vilify Republicans. Republicans could increase the budget by 10% and Democrats will accuse Republicans of wanting to kill granny and eat children. The same is true if there was no increase in the budget or a budget cut. Republicans need to get some frickin’ balls and go on the offensive. If they don’t then they will be as useless as they have been since when Gingrich was Speaker.

Just like Twitter, you could fire 80% of gov’t employees and the gov’t function would improve.
