*snip* ... What the Libertarian Party accomplished in 2020 was giving us government vaccine mandates, growing foreign entanglements in a regional European war, huge government deficits, and growing inflation. How did the Libertarian party accomplish this? In three states — Arizona, Georgia, and Wisconsin — the Libertarian vote total was 4.9, 5.3, and 1.9, respectively, times the Democrat margin in those states. *snip*
Had President Trump won those three states, he would have won 37 more electoral votes for a total of 269. Barring faithless electors, the Electoral College would have ended up tied at 269 electoral votes for each candidate, and the election would have gone to the House of Representatives. In this case each state delegation has 1 vote for a total of 50 votes. At the time, the GOP had a majority in 27 state delegations, the Democrats had a majority in 20 state delegations, and 3 state delegations were evenly split. Barring a collective decision to destroy their own party by a number of Republicans in Congress, President Trump would have been re-elected.

Yes, yes they are. Because they have more in common with Democrats than they do conservative Republicans.
No. Simply wrong. People who voted for rabid Democrats and gutless Republicans gave us what we’ve got. Good and hard. Libertarians are irrelevant. Delusional thinking and scapegoating.
Libertarians really are not a significant number.
A much larger problem are the McCain Republicans. They do actively want establishment republican candidates and won’t vote conservative. If they’ll vote at all, they are your Biden republicans.
Run better candidates. No candidate “deserves” anybody’s vote. Votes have to be earned. If a candidate can’t get enough votes to win, that’s on them. This assumption that people who voted Libertarian would have voted for anybody without a Libertarian candidate is silly. They could just as easily left it blank.
it depends what assumptions you make about the Libertarian voters. If they instead had voted for one of the two major parties, would more have supported Trump than Biden?
Some Libertarian, Green party, etc. voters, equally despise each of the two major parties, and take the position that, they don’t like either, and don’t care which of the two major parties wins an election.
Heck, even here on Free Republic, there is a heck of a lot of criticism of the Republican party, and some say it’s just as well a Democrat wins election rather than a “RINO” type Republican.
So would Libertarians have voted more for Trump, if compelled to make a choice of one of the two major parties candidates?
Why didn’t the Libertarians vote for Trump and his suspension of the debt ceiling and trillions upon trillions in new debt?
Stupid Libertarians!
i can’t believe people still believe that votes matter. Look, it doesn’t matter. Our country is done. They’ve stolen elections for two cycles now. It’s not the libertarians fault. It’s the uniparty. They have an agenda and it doesn’t involve making America stronger or better.
I disagree that libertarians would have made the difference. Whatever deficit the Dems found themselves in, they would just make it up in “found ballots.”
It was a completely manufactured election. The voters had nothing to do with it, other than being cover, like a fenced business.
The Libertarian Party really is just an arm of the Democrat party..
I lean strongly libertarian, and in Massachusetts can probably safely cast a libertarian protest ballot, with no danger of it affecting the outcome. I still hold my nose and vote Republican.
Always vote for the least awful viable candidate.
The Libertarian Party has been trying to figure out who they are since 1976 and still do not know. I refer to them as Democrat Liteas they jumps in close races to pull wins for the Democrat party..Generally they get kickbacks from the DNS for these efforts.
The Democrats would have just fabricated that many more fake ballots.
Libertarian candidates ain’t our problem. Rigged elections are our problem.
President Trump got more than enough votes to win a fair election in 2020.
> It’s the uniparty. <
A uniparty can be overcome when there is a free and tenacious press to combat them. A good example of that is how a free press helped take down Tammany Hall in New York City. So it can be done.
But we no longer have a free and tenacious press. To the contrary. With only a few exceptions, the press is now an arm of the uniparty. Absent some sort of societal earthquake, I don’t see this changing.
The article describes their significance in numerical terms, does it not?
I think it was Michael Medved who described libertarians as "losertarians", whose exclusive, indignant insistence on a few odd notions can be enough to swing major elections.
Not only that, one suspects that Dems might pose as libertarians to pry enough votes from GOPers to lose the election for both.
There must be at least 100 of those fools, cause every time a thread about dope pops up on FR, they're all over it. Greatest thing since stereo, if you believe them.
The Libertarian Party is not libertarian.
Neve has been.
How, exactly, did the libertarian party do that?
Do the libertarians work for Dominion?
Did the libertarians furnish suitcase full of Biden ballots in Atlanta?
Truckloads of ballots after midnight?
Did libertarians push ballots through the counting machinery repeatedly to get the tally that the democRATS wanted?
Place your anger wherever you want, but don’t blame the people that wish to have the government adhere strictly to its constitutional moorings. Libertarians didn’t steal the 2020 election - DemocRATS (with the help of RINOS) did.
There is a solution. France has a run-off presidential election if no one candidate gets a majority of the vote. We should do the same.
Now here’s where it can get a bit messy. Our presidents are elected by electoral college votes, not by popular votes. So the run-offs would only occur in states where no one candidate gets a majority of the vote.
Run-offs in those states would be insane. Incredible, massive cheating by Democrats. And incredible, massive spending by both parties.
