Mayor-elect Brandon Johnson’s campaign promise to help steer youth from crime {Chicago}
Chicago Tribune ^ | Apr 22, 2023 | Nell Salzman

In the past week, police, state and local leaders have grappled with the decades long question of how to control large youth gatherings downtown in wake of the violent crowd that swarmed near Millennium Park last weekend, and the spotlight for immediate answers could not have shone more brightly on Mayor-elect Brandon Johnson.

In response, Johnson, who was in Springfield the days following the weekend violence to court state lawmakers in his first visit to the capital since winning the election, touted a strategy he pledged on the campaign trail: more job opportunities for the city’s youth.

But is the solution really that simple?

Since at least the 1960s, politicians have championed jobs for the young as a way to curb crime, and the idea is just one part of Johnson’s overall plan, including investing in schools and public spaces. It’s a progressive approach that voters embraced over his tough-on-crime opponent, Paul Vallas, who was backed by the city’s Fraternal Order of Police.

He got elected on a "public safety" platform. So here it is. More job opportunities for youth.

But will the jobs pay more than looting and robbery? Or be as exciting?

Let’s see...go to work, or go wilding. Running wild without consequences probably looks pretty good to the yoots. And you could as easily do it after a shift at Micky Ds.

This is like going on a long hike with ill-fitting boots without socks on, ain’t going far. It’s part of the solution, though.

When I was young we could get jobs after school, weekends and of course during the summer. It taught me responsibility.

Now, just throwing jobs at disaffected youths won’t work without a discipline component. The kids will need to want to get a job, most of the yutes today heads are all messed up with the garbage fed to them from schools, broadcast media, socialist networks and the thuggery culture starting at birth, especially the ones with inattentive parents.

So how do we fix that? I would move. However, it’s become evident, there’s really no where to move to because the evil bastards responsible will just follow you. It’s time to make a line in the sand…but we must be braver than obama who would just retreat the line.

Well, the mayor correct about that. But Democrats can’t do anything right. So any program Chicago starts is bound to get lost in incompetence and graft.

Now here’s the thing. Trump wanted to bring industry back to America. That would have meant good factory jobs in the cities. But the GOP “free traders” didn’t want that. And neither did the Democrat plantation masters. So Trump is out, and here we are.

There is never a lack of jobs for those under 18. Where I work a high school kid can make $16.00 per hour collecting carts and loading cars. Part time that is over $1,000.00 per month.

Yeah, I’m sure the vote was all about approaches to crime, and not about the skin color.

Solving the violence problem among blacks would mean completely changing the culture. It would mean the government stops paying black women to have children out of wedlock. It would mean the government stop trying to eliminate religion from public and private life. It would mean altering the economy so that it isn’t profitable to take your jobs to China or Asia or Africa. It would mean creating admiration among blacks for learning. So many things would have to change, and those changes would be at every possible level that I don’t see it happening. Among the problems with changing these things is so many people get money off the status quo, and this includes the blacksploitation politician race baiters. None of this will change in our lifetimes, or likely at all.

There is one very quick solution. Make it open season on rioters with no bag limit. That way nothing else has to change at all.

Humm Let’s see

I’ve been told my whole life I’m oppressed, I have no fundamental cognitive skills because I’m in a failing school, and I can only read and write at a level good enough to get a menial job making a low wage with little hope of advancement.

So options are limited and difficult for me.

For people growing up with no moral compass and told they are oppressed by “the man” it’s no surprise what the outcome is.

Or I can shoplift and rob people with almost no consequences a few hours a week and lay about getting high and hanging out.

Past generations sought employment, not for something to do, but to have money to eat.

“If you don’t work, you don’t eat” WAS a well-known motto.

These young black people see no connection between work and their own survival. They live in a world in which nobody requires them to be responsible and civilized.

“I don’t need a job. I just steal what I want and need.”

“The MAN owes me what I am taking from HIM.”

“a strategy he pledged on the campaign trail: more job opportunities for the city’s youth.”

The man is an idiot. Criminals do not want to work for a living. Why work for minimum wage at a McDonalds when one can shoplift a thousand dollars worth of power tools in under a minute or sell drugs for massive profits? Plus they’re not getting arrested. The few that do, are getting slaps on the wrist, if that, and put back out on the streets as soon as possible. As a consequence, businesses are fleeing Chicago, resulting in fewer jobs to be had.

The corporate entities that rule our society aren’t fools.

They want a crime crackdown before they put any of their operations into the city creating a potential for youth employment assuming the children will finish school.

It’s possible to employ kids that drop out of school as well.

YOU CANNOT FORCE EMPLOYERS TO HIRE PERSONS WHO CANNOT READ/WRITE/SPEAK ENGLISH.

WHO CANNOT DO ANY PERSONAL HYGIENE OR PERSONAL GROOMING.

WHO CANNOT CONTROL THEIR FERAL BEHAVIOR

YOU ALSO CANNOT EXPECT THOSE WHO CAN PERFORM TO WORK WITH SUCH BARBARIANS

EVEN the few that ‘want to get a job’ cannot read/write/speak or arrive in a clean, groomed manner to “WORK”.

All those PARTICIPATION TROPHIES are setting the standards.

Why is Johnson at the Illinois legislature pitching his Chicago campaign promise, instead of just implementing it?

Because he has it all figured out, except, you know, how to fund it. So he’s there to pitch forcing the state’s taxpayers to cough up for make-work/no show “jobs” for a politicized phalanx of Chicago “Johnson-jugend”.

His argument is that the only way to divert the “youth” from their natural criminal conduct is for YOU to pay them (with middleman Johnson skimming half off the top and hiring cronies to run the program). Nice protection racket Johnson. How about “NO”?
