I am not sure the individual liberty is the issue at stake for this Egyptian.
Individual liberty that the world has seen recently has evolved into trans dances in libraries for children.
World wide there are people who want to conserve their histories their values...
That argument could be used to censor a lot of actual truth here in the US - and has been. Every individual’s notion of ‘history’ and ‘values’ is different.
In my opinion, our own history and values have been distorted in history texts for decades (see Howard Zinn!); and now, if you contest that ‘received wisdom’, you might be ‘cancelled’. But contesting voices are still out there, because we still have some level of freedom of expression.
This isn’t new in our era; it’s been done in various ways forever. I just don’t like censorship cutting either way. Those who endorse shutting up someone else have usually found it coming back to bite themselves later.
Again, as long as people are free to express themselves and speak their minds, there will be voices to contest ‘disinformation’. It’s not any individual’s job or responsibility to dictate what other people may believe, buy into, or subscribe to. God gave everyone a brain.
(This Netflix issue is completely different from having your kid force-fed nonsense in a school for which you pay for actual education. Nobody is obliged to subscribe to Netflix.)
