China v Taiwan – The Draft Begins
Armstrong Economics ^ | 18 Apr 24 | Martin Armstrong

Chinese President Xi Jinping announced that he is preparing for war. The military budget will grow by about 7.2% this year after it has already doubled over the past decade. This is not a sudden decision. China has been quietly positioning itself for quite some time and has taken notes over Russia’s missteps with Ukraine. The People’s Liberation Army (PLA) is now drafting soldiers, and veterans and college-educated students will be at the top of the list. Wars are now fought through intelligence and strategies rather than pure brute strength. The PLA is seeking out both women and men and is particularly interested in those with a STEM background. China’s announcement comes after Texas Republican Rep. Michael McCaul visited Taiwan to “provide deterrence to China.” Worse, McCaul told the international press that America would fight alongside Taiwan if Congress approved.

In typical political fashion, McCaul proposed a world war! “Taiwan is in a very different position from Ukraine,” McCaul said. “Number one, they’re not battle tested or ready. They are not prepared for war.” His solution? “When you look at Ukraine, they had NATO supporting them. You don’t have NATO in the Pacific,” he continued. “That’s why when looking at Japan, South Korea, Philippines, Australia, we need to start having these discussions as a deterrent for peace.”

Peace was never an option with Ukraine, and Zelensky made it known that he would not meet Moscow on any agreement. In fact, NATO and others directly helped Kiev break its promises to Moscow, such as France and Germany helping to broker the Minsk Agreement hoax to buy time for Ukraine to build up its military. China has a strategy and a mission. Losing Taiwan would be seen as an unfathomable loss, and they are prepared to go to war against any nation that intervenes.

The West has already stretched itself thin by hyper-fixating on Ukraine as their own economies crumble. Interestingly, US intelligence services believe China will invade Taiwan in 2027. The computer also indicates that a world war could peak as early as 2027, with 2024-2027 being a period of concern.

Chinese President Xi Jinping announced that he is preparing for war.

That's pretty blunt. Of course the professional politician lawyers in D.C. will create a blue ribbon committee to determine exactly what Xi means.

Don’t forget the Norks 1.3 million men, 6000 artillery tubes, 5100 rocket launchers, 4000 tanks and 2500 armored vehicles sitting 50 odd miles from Seoul. Any action from China will be coordinated with North Korea. What American reserves that haven’t been committed to the Uke quagmire certainly can’t be spread thin enough to save Seoul and Taipei both. Who gets sacrificed immediately? I forgot to remind you of the very large ace in the hole the NORKS also possess. Three front war for our rainbow warrior led forces anyone?

Kinda hard to hit both after the US has been devastated by one or both’s retaliatory nuclear strikes.

We won’t go to military war over Taiwan....that’s just not going to happen no matter what Biden says.....Taiwan is not American territory. Furthermore Beijing has for decades been building up the military capability to make credible the military threat to Taiwan and to any U.S. forces that might intervene in Taiwan’s defense. This isn’t something new.

South Korea is kind of like Japan: They both have many nuclear plants and reactors, and are both technically savvy enough to build a weapon.

It’s anecdotal, but a few years ago a Japanese bigwig was asked if Japan would ever build a nuclear weapon, and he replied (and I’m paraphrasing): “If we need one, we can build one in a couple hours.” Who knows?

And you think you’re on the right side. You are just as duped as they are.

There is no “right” side in the ukraine mess. You never think for one minute both sides are incredibly effing wrong, do you.

Japan had best follow de Gaulle’s lead and build their own credible nuclear retaliatory capability, a Japanese bomb with a Japanese finger on the button. The American guarantees are pretty much worthless nowadays. Build it on the QT then announce it to the world. I fear the South Koreans doing likewise would bring a strike from the north. Any hint of Taipei doing this (the CCP has infiltrated Taiwan almost to the degree they have DC) would bring an immediate attack. Taiwan’s best course of action would be an attempt to at least negotiate a Hong Kong type deal.

Yeah, and how did that work out for Hong Kong?

Yet we still do vigorous trade with the Chinese and give them MFN status. Why?

Claiming Russia is failing is a delusional a premise as claiming Biden is succeeding.

Taiwan will fall...probably sooner rather than later. So will South Korea.Mao wouldn't have it any other way. And while Mao's “paper tiger” probably wasn't accurate in the 60’s his successors know that today it's true of our Rat Party.
