I thought things like this were engineered for a worst-case scenario, the way I would like a 5th-floor balcony designed, for New Year’s when every inch is filled with college football players and their girlfriends on their shoulders.

It is falling apart because the white people who built it are being replaced by dark skinned people who can’t maintain it.

“We have to be careful that we aren’t also creating unintended consequences: More death on our roads,” she said. “Safety, especially when it comes to new transportation policies and new technologies, cannot be overlooked.”
Homendy noted that Ford’s F-150 Lightning EV pickup is 2,000 to 3,000 pounds (900 to 1,350 kilograms) heavier than the same model’s combustion version. The Mustang Mach E electric SUV and the Volvo XC40 EV, she said, are roughly 33% heavier than their gasoline counterparts.

“Old garages will increasingly collapse under the weight of EVs with lithium batteries. They just weren’t made for the weight.”

Older buildings built to lesser codes, been up longer, more wear and tear, and not reinforced like newer codes/buildings.

The roof looks old judging from the cracks along with the rusted rebar in the broken concrete.
I wonder how they will get all the undamaged cars out of the building?
