Former New Jersey Governor Chris Christie slammed Florida Governor Ron DeSantis during an event with Semafor’s Steve Clemons on Tuesday, going so far as to muse that he doesn’t view his prospective 2024 Republican primary rival as a conservative.
Christie seemed to relish the opportunity to launch a broadside after Clemon raised the topic of DeSantis and his ongoing fight with Disney:
So let’s start off with this: I’m a conservative. And I believe as a conservative, the job of government is in the main to stay out of the business of business. Like I don’t think we should be heavily regulating business, I don’t think we should be telling business what to do, what to say, how to think. And I believe that’s what conservatives have believed for as long as I’ve been alive.
I don’t think Ron DeSantis is a conservative, based on his actions towards Disney. I mean, you know, where are we headed here now that if you express disagreement in this country, the government is allowed to punish you? To me, that’s what I always thought liberals did. And now all of a sudden, here we are participating in this with a Republican governor.
Christie went on to say that he was “all for the appropriate use of governmental power to achieve laudable goals,” but to knock DeSantis as lacking in foresight.
“If you’re gonna use those levers [of power] you gotta look around the corners to see what the result of that will be,” argued Christie.

Disney must have promised this guy endless supply of Mickey Mouse waffles or something.
DeSantis took action and Christie is just a rat Collaborator
Christie is confusing conservative, I think he meant confectionary, like what’s on his donuts.
It would be a cold day in hell before I’d vote for Chrissy, The King of the RINOS.
Chris Christie is missing an important point. Disney started this battle. Disney picked this fight, by publicly opposing the parental rights law in Florida, and vowing to use their corporation to fight it, and saying they would get involved in lawsuits to overturn that law.
So to say that they conservative position would be to stay out of anything that a business is doing, ignores the fact that Disney wanted this fight.
Christie doesnt know what polling over 1% is either
That’s funny. We know Crispy Cream isn’t a conservative.
exactly
I’d have preferred DeSantis to sit this one out and come out full force in support of trump.
That said, Christie is a dirtbag and his insults make me like DeSantis.
I think the pubs should make it a rule that any candidate should be in reasonable physical shape to be allowed to run for office.
And who defines what reasonable physical shape is? Trump is noticeably on the heavy side.
What does lard ass know about being a conservative?
It is just possible that a large number of women will someday realize the trans thing is just a way for men to take away everything from women - not just their sports and schools but the very definition of woman.
If that were to happen they may turn on the male elites and female enablers and embrace the visible leader that has stood up for the rights of women and girls.
DeSantis.
DeSantis is running the State of Florida.
Christie is running his mouth.
Fat boy talks crap.
I would vote Biden Emperor King before I would vote for Chris Mr Creosote Krispi or his pal Munt Romney fot dog catcher
Well, certainly Donut Boy is qualified to be the arbiter of who is conservative.
