The homeowner who allegedly shot a black teen in the head after he mistakenly rang his doorbell in Kansas City was hit with two felony counts on Monday as prosecutors said he could spend the rest of his life in jail.
Andrew D. Lester, 85, was charged with assault in the first degree and armed criminal action for the shooting of 16-year-old Ralph Yarl in a crime that had a “racial component,” according to the Clay County Prosecutor Office.
Lester was not immediately arrested on Monday evening. A bond of $200,000 was set for the suspect.......

I am done with it until we know the truth.
I guess.
What you say is true, however, this is starting out like Trayvon and George. And Rodney.
They fool’d me three times; this time I’m holding off until the whole story comes out.
As for the shooter, unless I see convincing evidence that he was a troublemaker I'll assume that he was simply very, very frightened...and at his age fear, and drastic reactions to fear, aren't unheard of. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RLYpnmDfP4M
Excellent plan.
That’s why I installed a doorbell camera. I can answer the door without going anywhere near it.
Yes - your home is NOT your castle.
You rent it from the state.
Happened to me a month ago. Obviously the person was intoxicated, crying and rang the bell and knocking on the door for 30 minutes.
I didn’t go to the door and expected them to leave. They didn’t, so I called the police.
No shots fired.
Every county has a sketchy area.
It’s not a great plan. I only have a front door and a side door. Kind of close together but it’s better than using the front door.
My employer just opened a new facility. At present there’s only one employee at the facility and it’s not in the best neighborhood. I was there working with him today. The door opens to the street and there are no windows (which is smart) Since you’re opening the door completely blind to whomever may be on the street I suggested a camera with a monitor near the door. I also suggested a shotgun but that won’t fly in a corporate environment (stupidly)
Yeah, I have one that calls every day of the work week. They give it a rest on the weekend.
Lester was in bed, may have been woken up. Should have had enough time to have woken up. Tired is stupid might be part of his defense. He did at least call 911.
This appears to be one of those kids who was doing all the right things Sad for him and the old man who will probably spend the rest of his life in a prison hospital. (Or considered a racist by the inmates and killed.)
“You cant shoot someone for ringing your doorbell.”
Obviously, you can.
Nancy Pelosi believes that he has the right to prove himself innocent of racism.

So don’t answer the door.
Link?
Says someone who I assume has never lived in the area.
I did, you’re too dull to see it.
