This is not surprising. Among the findings of the recent headline-grabbing Wall Street Journal poll revealing that the importance of “traditional American values” has plummeted among citizens is that just 39 percent of our people now say religious faith is very important to them. Just a bit more than a generation ago, in 1998, this figure was 62 percent. This is significant because secular societies have, as a rule, persecuted the church.
Addressing the burgeoning anti-Christian hatred at Newsweek Tuesday was Shawn Carney, president and CEO of 40 Days for Life, the world’s largest pro-life organization. He wrote:

As posted on another thread, many of our churches are now armed fortresses, especially ours; they’re welcome to come get them some whenever they get to feeling real froggy, but rest assured; they’ll end up meeting the Lord of Glory...one way or the other. And at this point, it don’t rightly matter to us which “way” it is...completely their choice.

Further....2 Timothy 4:3-4 has always revealed that:
“The time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but wanting to have their ears tickled, they will accumulate for themselves teachers in accordance to their own desires, and will turn away their ears from the truth and will turn aside to myths.”

Churches are never covered with equal protection of the law against attacks.
In the 1980’s, San Francisco Presbyterian pastor McIlhaney’s church was viciously attacked over years, and his parsonage was firebombed because the church dismissed an organist who came out as unapologetically “gay,” against church doctrine and policy. The police yawned and no perpetrators were ever charged.
Several decades later, Portland’s Mars Hill Church, a non-denominational evangelical church, was severely vandalized, with irreplaceable antique stained-glass windows being broken out with bricks. A radical homosexual group openly and proudly posted responsibility on social media, but nothing was done in response.
I’m praying that won’t happen.
