CHICAGO — The mayoral victory on Tuesday of Brandon Johnson, a once little-known progressive and former teacher, over a more moderate veteran of this city’s burly political realm injected confidence in the Democratic Party’s most liberal wing — and may have pointed a way forward for the party on the fraught issue of crime.
Johnson, 47, walked back some of his most progressive positions, including budget cuts to Chicago’s police force. But he never disavowed the position that, in a city where violence and crime are surging, those in power must take a fundamentally different approach to public safety. Instead of more police on the beat, he called for economic and community development, more social workers and mental health professionals — and more detectives to actually solve the crimes that are committed.
“He may not call that law enforcement activity, but it will be part of the law enforcement system,” said Rep. Danny K. Davis, a longtime House Democrat from Chicago who backed Johnson.
Johnson’s victory may be a lesson for other Democrats struggling with the issue under the verbal assault of Republicans. Rep. Delia Ramirez, a newly elected progressive Democrat from Chicago’s Northwest Side, was ecstatic. “We’ve had a police department that had been attempting to do the jobs of social workers, counselors, mediators, you name it,” she said. “What we haven’t had is help.”

Chicago went further left, and Wisconsin decided to give their Supreme Court control back to the DEMs for the first time in 16 years. Good luck getting it back. Americans have a death wish, which a vast majority seem fine with.

Whitey and businesses have been leaving Chicago for at least five years; it will now be a torrential flood as those who have not yet left will leave now.
Before I retired my office was in the Loop. I have been retired for over six years, and I have not set foot in Chicago OR Cook County since the day I retired. I have lived west of there for over 30 years, in a different county. When we moved here our area was ruby red; it has since been @#$%^& up by Democrats fleeing Chicago and Cook who brought their insanity with them.
That’s the thing about Democrats and the left (but I repeat myself): They are cancerous.
Commie Johnson won because the racist blacks in the South and West sides listened to their leaders like Jessie Jackson who told them they needed to keep the office of Chicago mayor in the hands of “one of their own” and voted over 80% against the white democrat who was running. After all, Brandon didn’t pay his water bills or parking tickets just like them. That coupled with a large amount of full on Bernie-level socialist whites on the Lakeshore was enough to push Johnson to victory.
The majority of Hispanics and ethnic whites voted for Vallas but not in enough numbers to stop the Marxist stooge puppet of the Chicago Teachers Union (soon to be renamed the Politburo as they will be the ones running things behind the scenes).
