McDonald's has temporarily shut down all of its U.S. offices as it prepares to deliver layoff messages online to a number of their employees across the country.
According to a new report from The Wall Street Journal, the layoffs - part of a company restructuring - will begin Monday after the company told employees to work from home so it can fire their staff virtually.
'During the week of April 3, we will communicate key decisions related to roles and staffing levels across the organization,' McDonald's officials said in a memo.

But hey, at least we’re not in a recession and the econmy is great! Right? AmIright?
My wife and I went to a McD’s a while back for the first time in 20+ years or more.
Ordered ‘Big Macs’.
They were waaay smaller than I remember.
They were smaller than the palm of my hand..............Not so ‘BIG’ anymore..................won’t be going back any time soon.................
Well, democrats got their way with ‘forcing’ corporations/businesses to pay a minimum wage of $15 an hour.
Now, the consequences follow, with layoffs all over the place to compensate for the losses in earnings for those business and the losses of customers who are not willing to pay the higher prices for goods and services which the higher minimum wage caused.
new movie....Honey, I Shrunk the Big Macs!
The price of beef has become so OUTRAGEOUS they would have to take drastic measures to make this brand work!!
I walked out of my local McDonald’s the other day. I stood at the counter for at least five minutes just waiting for one person to even make eye contact let along say “Can I help you?”
Normally they are pretty good there so it was extra disappointing.
This has nothing to do with the brand. The brand is fine and stock is up $2.20 today. This is a corporate restructuring and the market likes it. Real conservatives used to cheer this kind of corporate oversight.
Seems most everyone on FR wants to just hate on everything without knowing the facts. Sad!
BidenDepression 2023
GREATEST ECONOMY EVAH!!!
Ice cream for everyone!
Should have went to the kiosk and placed your order like everyone else is doing.
Get your nuggets while you can.
Haha - imagine reading a resume’ and seeing “then there was that time McDonalds let me go.”
Fast food only makes sense when you're on the road and not expecting to get home for a while.
As you noted, with microwaves, air-fryers, etc, McDonalds is no longer more convenient than making stuff at home. I can pop a frozen burger patty in my frying pan and have a burger in 7 minutes, cooked exactly how I like it.
McD stock is up $120.00 a share since Covid hit April 2020. Something is being done right.
Great minds, and all that...
I believe they ARE fearful of some reaction from the employees they let go.
which means the number of people getting laid-off will be large, increasing the odds of an inciden. And it is Chicago, after all....
McDonald’s may be “junk food” but its no different than what most large brands offer at grocery stores. Think Coca Cola, General Mills and their sugar-laden cereals, Kelloggs, etc. etc.
And having said that, I still like going to McDonalds. Best fries around, and still love Big Macs.
Nuggets ain’t going anywhere.
I’d rather eat a Quarter Pounder and fries than a Hungry Man or Lean Cuisine, or Degornio.
scumbags don’t have the balls to do it in person. Guess people will be getting laid off via email.
also, your other comment about people automatically hating on MCD
I have done some work with them as an outside supplier/consultant.
They have SUPER high food-safety standards. All the way through their supply-chain to their stores. IMHO higher than any other fast-casual or fast food store. Obviously, they are a huge brand, and a huge target. They can not afford any problems whatsoever.
