The U.S. would destroy Taiwan’s chip plants if China invades, says former Trump official

The United States would destroy Taiwan’s highly sophisticated semiconductor industry rather than allow it to be captured if China ever successfully invaded the island, according to Donald Trump’s former National Security Advisor.

“The United States and its allies are never going to let those factories fall into Chinese hands,” Amb. Robert O’Brien told me during a conversation airing today at the Global Security Forum organized by the Soufan Center in Doha, Qatar.

The bulk of the world’s most advanced microchips are produced in Taiwanese facilities owned by TSMC. Gaining control of those plants would make China “like the new OPEC of silicon chips” and allow them to “control the world economy,” O’Brien said…… Still, I was caught off guard by O’Brien’s candor. It occurred to me at that moment that this national security advisor, cleared at the highest level of state secrets, probably knew whether there is some sort of “end TSMC” action plan should the U.S. and allies not stop China from taking control of Taiwan. O’Brien didn’t explicitly say there was such a plan, but when I asked if Taiwan’s chip production facilities would really be “gone,” he said “I can’t imagine they’d be intact.”

——————

No surprise after they blew the Nordstream pipeline into Germany. The US under Biden is out of control, completely corrupted and bent on destruction.

The bulk of the world’s most advanced microchips are produced in Taiwanese facilities owned by TSMC.

The question the "press" never asks is: WHY doesn't America produce those chips?

Another good questions is: WHY does the U.S. government block mining of rare earth elements in America?

The answers would lead to the production of a record amount of tar and feathers.

Yeah, it sucks. However, it guarantees a rapid collapse of the CCP within China AND it is cheaper than a full blown war with China.

No it does not. This is becoming a multi-polar world, and Brazil. Russia, India, China, Africa, all of Asia save Japan, will be one bloc against us one day later.

It is obvious to me, anything Biden supports or mandates is designed to bring harm to America, from his Covid vax hoax, economic shutdown, to his Ukie war to boys in girls bathrooms and men in woman sports.

When does America wake up?

“On the topic of Taiwan, Gave offers yet more positive predictions. He argues that an invasion of Taiwan will never happen for a number of reasons, above all topographical ones: “Taiwan is a natural fortress”. A hundred miles of sea stand between it and China, and it has mountains reaching 12,000 feet and only three beaches to choose from. “Are you going to try to do this with an army, a navy and an air force that is completely untested? No, there’s no way.”

This is true.

The situation is complicated by another truth - about 35% of the Taiwanese population is sympathetic to PRC and would like to unite.

same for washing machines and dryers.

I got rid of my old kennmore set for new Samsung ones maybe 10 years ago and have had regrets ever since.

What if they work with China for a PEACEFUL re-unification?

Would we STILL blow up their chip plants?

After all, we blew up Nordstream when Germany started making noises about a PEACEFUL end to the Ukraine War.

You just threw ice water on the wargasmics.

Seems to me that this might make China want to think twice about invading if they knew there would be no reward for doing so.

TSMC has fabs in the PRC as well. And they are building one in Arizona.

That would unleash a long-term global depression the likes of which we cannot imagine or fathom.

TSMC only manufacturers it’s most advanced chips in Taiwan, they keep that technology out of mainland China. The new plant they built in north Phoenix is going to be manufacturing the most advanced ones also. Supposedly it’s almost a copy of the plant in Taiwan. Putting it in Phoenix is to keep the ability to manufacture cutting chips out of the reaches of the Chinese if they should invade Taiwan.

The Putinistas accuse America of supporting the Chicoms against Putin, then they accuse us of planning to keep the Chicoms from stealing western technology after invading another country.

Commies.

>>90% of our chips are made there.<<
Approximately 60%. South Korea and America make up bulk of the rest.

A lot of other nations are noticing our bulling tactics and thirst for war and are distancing themselves from us about as fast as they can with the hopes that they won’t get sanctioned and or bombed. The US is a dangerous country and that’s not an overstatement.

Yup. We have to source domestically. If Xhina takes Taiwan, they own the chip world until Intel and Samsung have finished building plants here.
