Does Canada have a term for extortion? Go look it up. I doubt you have ever been a billionaire so you will pretend to know nothing about how they are targeted for extortion.
Another thing on the extortion, it used to be that we charged/tried/convicted the extortionist, not the target. Does that seem odd to you?
For one, Trump didn’t pay any money. His lawyer did and testified under oath that Trump was unaware of what he was doing.

As it appears you've never gotten far enough in any employment or career you've had to worry about something like that,
It's called going away money.
Because if you ever got far enough to be in management or own a company, and someone comes to your business, claims a slip and fall or some other injury and threatens to sue, it's something you consider to do.
Because, it's cheaper to pay some money and make no admission of guilt or responsibility to make something go away, rather than have to have a long and expensive trial to prove your innocence.
But, like I said, it appears you've never gotten that far, to need to know or worry about something like this.
